MARRIAGE STORY

The film stars Scarlett Johansson as Nicole and Adam Driver as Charlie. This film is a
comedy drama genre, where the conflict of this film tells about their family which is on the
verge of divorce.

This film tells the story of the divorce between Nicole and Charlie, but they both don't
want this divorce to destroy their child's life. So they decided to live in the same house while
undergoing a very complicated divorce process in their country.

This film is shown as realistically as possible, we are shown how complicated the
divorce process is, the side effects for oneself and children when a divorce occurs. This film is
very dramatic where there are many emotional scenes that carry the audience into the
atmosphere of this film. In my opinion, in this film, none of the scenes are exaggerated, all the
scenes look very natural, I as a viewer feel amazed because all the scenes in this film look very
natural.

I think the message that this film wants to convey is that selfishness must be buried
when we have built a household. Where when the husband is angry the wife must give in,
instead of when the husband is angry the wife is also angry, it will create a rift in their family.
Selfishness can make people lose control, take the wrong attitude, decide rashly on a matter,
and quarrels that start from selfishness. Because, when selfishness is greater then love will
disappear, but if love for your partner is greater that will kill selfishness.

The scene that I like the most is when they argue and debate with each other, starting
from being relaxed then getting more tense and the tension getting higher until they get really
angry and insult each other until finally their anger subsides and they cry together. I like this
scene because this scene is rarely shown in other films, where there is one long scene that is
sequential and brings emotion to the audience.
