E-THICKING 2

Technology has played a big role in the education sector as it has become a
bridge to continue learning amidst the pandemic. The usual face-to-face class has
transitioned into an online class. With this new mode of learning, teachers do not have
the control over their students behind their screen compared in face-to-face class.
Some students took advantage of this to get a high score but in the wrong way. In
other words, we can say that the rise of online class during the pandemic also
provided an opportunity for the rise of online cheating.

As a student who experienced online classes, I’m aware of this kind of

situation, where students are chatting with their friends while taking a test and
exchanging answers; searching for answers on Google; and copying answers from
another tab where the PowerPoint is. I am aware of all of these because I admit I am
one of the students who engage in this behavior, and I am not planning to gaslight it
because I know it is unethical. There’s always that guilty feeling when you get a high
score through cheating.

Learning is more fun, especially if it springs from our will and we use it
correctly. The day will come when we can learn something we can use throughout our
lives. So we should not neglect the opportunities given to us to learn, some things are
not important now, but the time will come when we can use them.
