I. Define the following terminologies in Anatomy and Physiology.

1. Anatomy – is the science that studies the structure and organization of the body.
2. Physiology - is the branch of biology that aims helps us to understand how the
body works in health and how it responds and adapts to the challenges of
everyday life.
3. Homeostatic Regulation - the ability of a system or living organism to adjust its
internal environment to maintain a stable equilibrium.
4. Negative Feedback - occurs to reduce the change or output: the result of a
reaction is reduced to bring the system back to a stable state.
5. Positive Feedback - occurs to increase the change or output: the result of a
reaction is amplified to make it occur more quickly.

II. Illustrate the Levels of Organization and Explain how they are different from each
other.

III. Contrast Positive and Negative Feedback, Give at least one example for each
type.
Positive Feedback amplifies the change Negative Feedback counteracts the
in parameter. changes in deviation to maintain stability.

Platelets release chemicals to stimulate When you're too hot, you sweat and
other platelets to go to the site of injury when you're too cold, you shiver.
and form blood clot.

IV. Why is Anatomy and Physiology studied together and how can it help you as a
student nurse?

Anatomy and Physiology are studied together because the structure, which is
anatomy, determines the function, physiology. It also works the other way around,
wherein the function is dependent on its structure. Knowledge attained from
studying anatomy and physiology can be supplemental for a student nurse
especially in a hospital setting. Every student nurse, or nurse in general,
encounter a wide variety of patients everyday with different cases, using their
knowledge in anatomy and physiology they would be able to identify, analyze,
and address every patient’s concerns especially during times of emergencies.
