World School Chess Championship Peru 2024-3
CITY OF CALLAO:
The province of Callao is a city and port located on the central coast of Peru, west of
the city of Lima, about 12 kilometers west of the historic center of Lima, and 20
minutes from Jorge Chávez International Airport. Among the tourist attractions to
visit is the Real Felipe, an impressive fortress built in the 18th century to protect the
port from pirate and corsair attacks. Likewise, the Naval Museum of Peru, a museum
that tells the history of the Peruvian Navy and exhibits a large number of objects
related to navigation and warfare at sea. In May, the weather is generally warm and
humid. The average daytime temperature is around 22 to 25 degrees Celsius, while at
night it can drop to around 18 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity is high, around
80% on average, which can make it feel hotter than it really is.
