SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION


This chapter presents the summary and conclusion derived in the conduct of the

study which is the effects of high pricing of onions among the selected restaurants of

Malabang, Lanao del Sur year 2023. It also provides recommendations that can be used

by the restaurant owners.

The study was conducted at Malabang, Lanao del Sur. The respondents were the

restaurant owners. They were selected using purposive sampling. It employed

quantitative research and qualitative research. Pertinent data were obtained thru interview

and survey.

Summary of Findings

This study aims to gather data about the effects of the high pricing of onions

among the selected restaurants of Malabang, Lanao del Sur year 2023. The researchers

came up with the succeeding findings:

1. How does the pricing of onions affect the restaurant of Malabang Lanao del

Sur?

According to the restaurant owners who participated in our investigation, the

high pricing of onions affected their restaurants. With the changes of prices of the

onions, 90% of the restaurant said that the taste of their dishes is affected because

their served meals taste different without onion, while 10% said that their taste isn’t

affected. 50% of restaurant owners said that the prices of their served meals are also
affected because they come up with the idea to increase the price of their served

meals, and the other 50% neither increase nor decrease the price of their served meals.

Now that the onions are at high price, restaurant owners are facing big challenges

today and so 50% of them decided to decrease the salary of their employees and 40%

didn’t change the salary of their employees, the remaining 10% increase the salary of

their prices.

According to the restauranteurs’ profit, 40% who were affected and 60% who

were not affected after the increasing price of the onions. For more information, their

businesses were not affected.

2. What are the coping mechanisms of the restaurant owners to maintain their

business operation despite the increased price of onions?

Many restaurants are in tough situations today, some of them are having

financial crisis. Yet, some of them worked hard to maintain their business.

Furthermore, restaurants have their brilliant ideas for them to cope up to maintain the

operation of their business such as implementing group (combos) of food in their

menu, lessen the salary of their workers, increasing the price of their served meals,

cooperation of their employees and maintaining the taste of the food.


Conclusion

Based on the findings, conclusions are drawn.

The changes encountered by restauranteurs in the high pricing of onions have

been a challenge to them. Some restaurants have been severely affected to the effects of

the high pricing of the onions. Hence, the restaurant owners need to adjust with the

changes of the prices of onions. Some of the restaurant owners are not affected in the

high pricing of onions because they have coping mechanisms that will help them not to

feel the effects of high pricing of onions. Therefore, not all of the restaurant owners who

participated in our investigation needs to adjust.

We realized that a single onion has an important role in our dishes that is being

served. Farmers are important because they eventually contribute a big help to our society

by planting onions. For the restauranteurs, they really need onions for it helps them sell a

very delicious meals that can make their restaurants rise to popularity.

Recommendation

The researchers recommend the following based on the findings and the

conclusion of the study:

1. The Philippines should create/regulate a law about controlling the prices of the

onions.
2. Restaurant owners are encouraged to plant more onions.

3. Restaurant owners should innovate new food where onions are replaced with other

spices but still producing mouth-watering food recipes.

4. Shifting of restaurant workers may be scheduled so that the workers still have equal

income in cases where scarcity of onions will be a problem.

5. Restaurant owners may advertise their innovated food recipe and promote discounts

to the public.
