ANXIETY
Anxiety is a feeling of fear , dread and uneasiness. It might cause you to sweat
and have a rapid heart beat. Anxiety is a natural response to stress or threat. It
occurs when the person is highly anxious all the time .
Panic disorder:

 People with panic disorder have frequent and unexpected panic attacks.
 These attacks are characterized by a sudden wave of fear or discomfort or a
sense of losing control even there is no clear danger or trigger.
 Not ev eryone who experience a panic attack will develop panic disorder.
 Symptoms :
 a racing heartbeat.
 Feeling faint
 Nausea
 Trembling
 Shortness of breath
causes

 Symptoms of panic disorder often start in the teens or adulthood


and effect more women than is man . Factors that may increase
the risk of developing panic attacks : Family history of panic attacks
: Major life stress , such as death or serious illness of a loved one.
Separation anxiety

 It is one of the most common childhood anxiety disorder.


 SAD involves significant distress when the child is unexpectantly separated from
home or close attachments
 Symptoms
 Difficulty being away from parents or other loved ones.
 Difficulty leaving the house , ev en to go to school.
 Difficulty sleeping.
 Excessive worry about danger to self
 Causes:
 Sometimes it dev elops in response to a natural disaster or other traumatic
ev ents like combat. The disorder is a way to distance or detach from the
trauma .
SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER

It is a type of anxiety disorder


that causes anxiety or fear in
social settings.
It is an intense, persistent fear
of being watched and judged
by others. This fear can affect
work, school, and other daily
activities.
SYMPTOMS:
• Blush, sweat, or tremble.
• Have a rapid heart rate.
• Difficult to make eye contact
• Feel self-consciousness
SELECTIVE MUTISM

It is a childhood disorder
characterized by inability or failure to
speak in certain social situations
where there is an expectation to
speak (e.g. School ).

It can be due to :
• Excessive shyness
• Social isolation
Treatment :
• Fear of embarrassment • PLAY THERAPY
• Lack of social interaction • FAMILY THERAPY
• TEACHER ASSISTANCE
• Interference in academic • STRESS FREE COMMUNICATION STYLES

GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER :
GAD means that you are worrying constantly about general things
and can’t control the worrying.

 It is more common in female as


compare to male .
 it can be due to such Factors:
 Experiencing a traumatic event.
 Being in a stressful environment.
 Having to manage a chronic illness.
 Experiencing child abuse.
OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER
It is a long-lasting disorder in which a person experiences
uncontrollable and recurring thoughts (obsessions), engages in
repetitive behaviors (compulsions.

 HABITS OF PEOPLE WITH OCD :


1. Counting, tapping, repeating certain words
2. or doing other senseless things to reduce
anxiety.
3. Spending a lot of time washing or cleaning.
