1. Introduction
Welcome to the Portable TENS/EMS/Massager Physiotherapy
Unit service manual. This manual provides comprehensive
information on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of
the device. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the
unit.
2. General Description:
2.1 TENS: Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a
non-invasive therapeutic technique designed for pain relief. This
method involves the use of a small, portable device that delivers low-
voltage electrical currents to specific areas of the body through
electrodes attached to the skin. By stimulating nerve fibers, TENS
helps modulate or block pain signals, offering a drug-free approach
to managing conditions such as chronic pain, muscle spasms, and
post-surgical discomfort. Electrical pulses promote the release of
endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, providing individuals with
an alternative means to alleviate various forms of pain. TENS is
widely recognized for its versatility and effectiveness in enhancing
the quality of life for those seeking relief from different types of
discomfort.
3.2 Contraindications:
Physiotherapy Device is contraindicated for use under certain
circumstances to ensure the safety and well-being of the user.
Avoid using the device in the following situations:
i. Pregnancy: The safety of electrical stimulation during
pregnancy has not been established. Consult with a healthcare
professional before use.
ii. Seizure Disorders: Individuals with a history of seizures or
epilepsy should avoid using the device without consulting a
healthcare provider.
iii. Active Cancer: Avoid using the device over areas with active
cancerous lesions without guidance from a qualified healthcare
professional.
iv. Open Wounds or Skin Infections: Do not apply electrodes over
open wounds, irritated skin, or areas with active infections.
v. Implanted Medical Devices: Avoid using the device over or near
implanted medical devices (e.g., pacemakers, defibrillators)
without consulting a healthcare professional.
