Exercise 3. Choose two benefits and two drawbacks from the list above (or use your own
ideas). For each of these main points, write a reason and example in the table below.
Benefit Reason Example
Many students travel This can provide them with For instance, individual
abroad to study at a opportunities to access to studies abroad can use
prestigious university new and effective Ipad for doing note-taking
methods of educating and and looking the
advanced technologies information up.
Enhance language As students need to use For example, by frequently

First and foremost, travelling abroad allows students to pursue their study at
prestigious universitíe. This means that they have opportunities to experience effective
methods and advanced technologies in educating and learning, and consequently,
studying is much more effective and better. For instance, individual studies in some
states of the United States can use Ipad for doing note-taking and looking the
information up, which can save such a lot of time than who use pens and notebooks.
Moreover, learners who live in a foreign country can enhance their language
proficiency. As students need to use local language in every activities in their daily life,
they are forced to master it. For example, by frequently speaking and listening to
indigenous people’s conversation, their language skills will quickly be fostered.
On the other hand, some students will experience culture shock when living abroad.
Due to the existence of myriads of cultures and disparities between them , the one who
cannot suddenly get used to a culture will suffer from culture shock. To illustrate,
expatriates going to Mexico must not eat dog meat, which is free to consume in
Vietnam.
In addition, Residing abroad can be challenging and stressful. Students have to find
accommodation and pay bills themselves, deal with language barriers and a plethora of
things they have never done before at home, which put such a strain on them. When
residing in another country, pupils may misunderstand or completely don’t understand
what information residents in that country try to convey if they don’t have a good
command for language.
In conclusion, everything has two sides, and studying overseas is not an exception.
However, from my point of view, its benefits outweigh its drawbacks.
