Abstract

This research aims to investigate the perception of parents regarding the transformation of

Digkilaan National High School into an agricultural school. The study recognizes the far-reaching

implications of transitioning a high school into an agricultural school for students, parents, and the

community. Understanding parental perceptions is crucial for informed decision-making by policymakers

and educational institutions. The research addresses the research gap in the specific context of transforming

Digkilaan National High School into an agricultural school and explores the unique perspectives of parents

in an agricultural domain. The study adopts Social Capital Theory and Human Capital Theory as theoretical

frameworks to examine the influence of parents' social networks and relationships and the significance of

providing agricultural knowledge and skills to students. The research objectives include determining the

level of parental support, assessing their comprehension and awareness of the benefits and opportunities of

agricultural education, and identifying concerns or obstacles parents may have. The study employs a

descriptive research design, utilizing a questionnaire as the research instrument to collect data from parents.

Simple random sampling is used to select participants among parents of students enrolled in Digkilaan

National High School for the academic year 2023-2024. The research is conducted in Iligan City,

specifically in Barangay Digkilaan. The collected data will be analyzed using statistical techniques and

thematic analysis. The findings of the study will provide valuable insights for decision-making and future

planning regarding the transformation of Digkilaan National High School into an agricultural school.
