Boom gate operational manual

CPT breaker and single pole breaker

➢ Acts as the start switch for the whole circuitry.

➢ The cpt breaker acts as a safe ground (equipment protection/surge protection).
➢ The single pole breaker (230VAC, 6A) also isolates the whole boom circuitry from our mains.

Microtik switch

➢ Data (network to the boom) is supplied using sfp port in some booms and others use port number
1(utp). Greenlight shows that we have a successful connection.
➢ Port 2 is connected to the internet communicator.
➢ Port 3 is connected to ANPR.
➢ Port 5 is connected to intercom.
➢ IP address is stamped on microtik switch.
IC (Internet communicator) Mini os i-7188E4D

➢ Red light shows power is ON

➢ Written code number b.1152
➢ Ip address is stamped on the IC
➢ This is a controller for remote operations of the boom and access of the servers (flow control).
➢ Qr code scanner and DAM are connected to this module.
➢ E1 is the ethernet cable from the mikrotik switch
➢ Com1 is connected to the bottom qr code scanner
➢ Com2 is connected to the DAM (Data Acquisition Module)
➢ Com3 is connected to the top QR code scanner
DAM (Data Acquisition Module) i-7065D

➢ IN 1, IN2, IN3, IN4 (red lights to these inputs showing ready to receive data (INPUT commands))
➢ RL1, RL2, RL3, RL4, RL5(OUTPUT commands)
➢ This controller receives, process and transmits DATA to and from the IC, and sends commands to
the motor and traffic lights. It also receives data from the LD and sends it to the motor.
➢ RL2 and RL4 LEDs(red) shows an output for boom close.
➢ If boom is open RL1 shows red led and others turn off
➢ If truck passes boom or boom is triggered to closed IN1 turns off showing that an input command
to close the boom has been send and it triggers RL5 then the booms close (back to initial state
RL2 and RL4)

24V Power supply (variable)

➢ this converts AC 220vAC to 24vDC

➢ Green led light shows the Power supply output is ok.
➢ +v ADJ is a DC output adjustment.
➢ it supplies power the mikrotik switch, D.A.M, L.D, RL1 and IC.

inductive loop

➢ this consists of electromagnetic wires (inductive circuitry) that are used to sense if there is a truck
and no truck (it senses metal).
➢ the loop is found right about where the boom is as shown above.
Dual channel vehicle detector

➢ This is a device that gets feedback from the loop whether there is a metal or not.
➢ Power showing red led means we are receiving power
➢ If there is a truck(metal) on the loop channel 1 is supposed to light up one led (DET led) and i
no metal is detected, then it is not supposed to light up.
➢ Channel 2 lights up both led because we do not have another channel only one channel is
operational
➢ If channel 1 shows DET or FAULT led press the reset button to remove those errors. If error
still shows remove the LD and put it back.
➢ Inside buttons are sensitivity switches currently its operating with 10 switches except for VID
and Scanner 48 which are using 6 switches

220VAC-5VDC Power supply(delta)

➢ This supplies power to the QR code scanners (220VAC to 5VDC).

➢ Green led light shows that there is 5VDC output from the PS.
Single phase electric motor

➢ The single-phase electric motor provides the drive to the boom pole or to our system in opening
and closing of the boom.
➢ The motor is a forward and reverse type of a motor which makes it able to open and close the
boom system.
➢ It is connected to a start capacitor and two relays for forward and reverse boom operation.

Motor start capacitor

➢ Its function is to briefly increase motor starting torque.

➢ Allows a motor to be cycled on and off rapidly without damaging the motor.
➢ The capacitor is a 4 microfarad 500v capacitor, it can handle the much-required motor starting
torque.
Control relays (24VAC; 10A 230VAC)

➢ The relay function is to switch ON/OFF the electric motor.

➢ It does that after receiving a signal from the data acquisition module.
➢ The relay coil is 24VAC and it switches 220/230VAC to the motor.

Qr code reader

➢ The reader function is to capture information on the ticket/coupon and the information is
conveyed to DAM and IC for processing.
➢ Further decision making is done in our two controllers IC and DAM. (That is the qr code is
connected to the DAM and IC).
➢ It is powered by 5vdc, and it is connected to the network also for it to communicate or encodes
information.

Overall diagram for boom gate wiring connections.
Please note:

1. The diagram does not include wiring for Fanvil intercom.

2. The SLAVE BOOM has the same connections as RL2.

3. Some connections are not common on all boom gates (e.g IN2 on D.A.M to 24 on V.D).

4. We are still in a process of perfecting the circuit.
