Today’s goals
Learning Intention:
Students will be able to use S.O.U.R.C.E to analyze a source(s) on Medieval
Life
Success Criteria:
All will understand the S.O.U.R.C.E questions and apply some to a Medieval
source
All will annotate a Medieval source, provided in class, using some parts of
S.O.U.R.C.E
Some will fully annotate a source correctly and locate a Medieval Source for
their upcoming Formative Assessment
S.O.U.R.C.E
In order to analyze a source correctly we need a framework. Right?
This framework is the SOURCE framework
We use this framework to analyze historical sources to determine their accuracy and
reliability.
Our focus this week, is to look at sources which show or tell us about different aspects of
Medieval Life.

THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU WILL COMPLETE A FORMATIVE

ASSESSMENT ON SOURCE ANALYSIS USING SOURCE

Objective and Message
What is the author trying to communicate to their

publishing this source?

identified?
Does the author belong to a specific organisation?
Does the author look to gain anything from publishing this source?
Context

that existed during the time that the source was created.
What was happening politically, economically, socially,

Locate a source to analyze
For your Formative Assessment you will be
required to choose a source.
That means you will find a source, annotate it
using S.O.U.R.C.E. More on this next lesson.
For now locate either a visual or written source
to analyze next lesson.
It must be based on Medieval life and on The
Church, Feudal System or Medieval Justice.
