Peyush Bansal is an Indian entrepreneur and co-founder of the eyewear retail


chain Lenskart. It is one the biggest eyewear store in India.

Past Lenskart:

Peyush Bansal was born on April 26, 1985, in New Delhi, India

He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill


University in Canada.

After graduating, he started working at Microsoft.

In 2007, he decided to quit his job at Microsoft and returned to


India.

In addition, he graduated with a management degree from the


Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

While pursuing his post-graduation, Bansal launched


SearchMyCampus.

During this time, he noticed that the eyewear industry is neglected


by large e-commerce giants, which drove him to create Lenskart.

1. EXTROVERSION: SCORE: HIGH (35)

• In one of the episodes of Shark Tank, Peyush said,


“I invested in the entrepreneur, and if you asked
me, he is the best among all. He has a vision and
confidence, and he is vigilant. I was impressed by
him because of his positive attitude, and even
when the sharks denied investing in him, he
remained positive and continuously smiled. He won
my heart.
• This statement backs up his extroverted nature. He
is a warm-hearted, friendly person. He is a very
sociable and talkative man who communicates with
people of all ages. His energetic personality is seen
in the entire season of Shark Tank.
• He is a movie bluff and has an interest in
basketball.

2. AGREEABLNESS: SCORE: HIGH(45)

• The above-mentioned Shark Tank statement by the


entrepreneur reflects his sympathetic, soft-hearted
and trusting nature.
• His mission behind starting Lenskart was to help
people all over India with vision correction. The
company aims to raise awareness about eye care
and performs almost 15,000 eye tests daily. Very
few people are generous enough like him to build a
platform helping the entire nation.
• He is straightforward and believes and openly
confesses to prioritising his customers before
investors. He also said that they also try to
understand what their customers want and
surprise them with new experiences He puts
himself in others' shoes to analyse every situation
and acts accordingly.
• He is also a team player and knows how to lead
and guide his team.

3. CONSCIENTIOUSNESS: SCORE: LOW(10)

• Peyush Bansal comes off to be a very flexible


person. This is supported by the fact that he
mentioned during an interview that he wasn’t sure
what to do with his degree. He was also unsure
about this engineering course. This depicts that
even if things went wrong, he was still relaxed. He
had his own back-up plans.
• Bill Gates had been a long-time role model for him.
He always wanted to work in his
company(Microsoft). However, he still left the
company in 2007 to pursue this own ideas and
returned to India without any plans.
• He is a creative and imaginative man who was
capable enough to think of many successful start-
ups. (Lenskart, SearchMyCampus.com,watchkart
etc.)

4. EMOTIONAL STABILITY: SCORE: HIGH(32)

• I believe that someone who can withstand and


recover quickly from difficult times, this
entrepreneur is more of a resilient person.
• He is a clear thinker but, more importantly,
confident. During his graduating years, he was
determined to work in his role models company,
and he attempted twice to achieve an offer letter
from Microsoft.

• He readily accepts challenges from everyone. He,


too, is very optimistic and treats every drawback as
an opportunity to improve. In one of his Twitter
posts, he said he is always discontent as it helps
people stay humble, curious and hungry to
innovate and continuously build an organisation for
tomorrow.

5. OPENNESS: SCORE: HIGH(40)

• Peyush is an explorer because he likes to approach


new ideas irrespective of their difficulty standards.
He has multiple investments in 30 different start-
ups.
• Despite bearing significant losses, he still tends to
invest.
• He is highly technology centric since he worked at
Microsoft in past.
• He believe that technology can help solve many of
the today's issues. He also has shown the same
through his Unicorn company “Lenskart”. He also
believe that technology can help to increase profit.
He believes in automation and efficiency of
business processes.
