in a country and which helps the tourism industry to grow and create more advantages in the
country:
1. Infrastructure requirements
2. a well-trained labour force
3. environmental concerns
4. marketing and promotion

Infrastructure requirements
The government has to provide infrastructure that is needed for the tourism industry, for
example building airports, ports facilities, providing a reliable supply of water and electricity
and providing good roads. The government obtains funds from local or foreign sources.

A well-trained labour force

The government provides training institutions for workers in the tourism industry, for
example hotel schools. Those institutions provide hospitality, training and preparation of food
and beverages for workers in the tourism industry. This is done to ensure that the tourist
enjoys their stay at the destination.

Governmental concerns
The government has to create policies to protect the environment from any possible misuse or
abuse by tourists or relating to the construction of hotels on beaches and mountains. There are
also policies relating to the disposal of solid waste and sewage from yachts on cruise ships.

Marketing and promotions

The government uses the Ministry of Tourism to create advertisements to encourage tourists
to visit the destination eg. the advertisements maybe on the mass media. The Ministry can
also have a booth at International tourism fairs or expos.
