ANCIENT RIVER VALLEY CIVILIZATIONS

The geographic conditions played a crucial


role in shaping the development of ancient
societies, particularly the civilizations that
emerged in river valleys.
These river valley civilizations, such as the
Mesopotamian civilization in the Tigris and
Euphrates River Valley, the Egyptian
civilization along the Nile River, the Indus
Valley civilization in the Indus River Valley,
and the Chinese civilization along the Yellow
River, thrived due to the favorable
geographic features of their respective
regions.
ANCIENT RIVER VALLEY CIVILIZATIONS

➢ The Fertile Crescent is a region of The
Middle East that stretches in a large,
crescent-shaped curve from the Persian
Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea. The
Fertile Crescent includes Mesopotamia.
➢ Mesopotamia means “land between the
rivers” in Greek.
➢ Here, the world´s first civilization began
to form.
