1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of the testing is to describe the performance to be given in the form of a class for both
serviceability and safety. These classes can be used to specify the acceptability for
a particular purpose.

2.0 TEST METHOD

APP: S.Murad

BS 8200 “Code of Practice for Design of Non-Load Bearing External Vertical Enclosures
of Buildings”.

3.0 EQUIPMENT USED

3.1 Coarse canvas bag filled with 50 ± 0.2 kg of sand.

3.1.1 A sphere shape bag with dimensions when filled:

a. Highest diameter is 400 mm.
b. Distance from top to center is 400 mm.
c. Base diameter is 120 mm.
d. Bag opening of 80 mm.

3.2 Two ropes with a length of 3.0 m minimum.

3.3 Hoisting of the Bag to give the required drop height.

3.4 Instantaneously releasing the bag.

4.0 Procedure.

4.1 Before an impact load is applied, the bag shall be rolled to loosen the sand. The bag is
placed at the impact point in such a way that, when it is suspended from the rope, it
just touches the surface of the panel. The bag shall then be drawn away from the panel
surface such that the maximum angle to the vertical subtended by the movement of the
rope shall be not greater than 65°.

4.2 The bag shall be raised to the prescribed height of drop, measured vertically from the
impact point. The bag is then released and allowed to swing freely in an arc onto the
face of the panel.
E= m.g.h, where:

E is the impact energy in J (Given by the client)

m is the mass of the impactor in kg (According to the standard 50.0kg)
g is the acceleration due to gravity in ms-2 (9.81)
h is the height through which the impactor falls in m

4.3 For serviceability impact tests ten impacts at the same point shall constitute a single
test. Damage shall be recorded after each impact. For safety impact tests a single
impact is required.

5.0 TEST DETAILS

Soft Body Impact Test has been performed for Stone cladding samples on Dec 03rd 2023.
Details are given in table 1.

6.0 Conclusion
This is an electronically generated report and does not require a signature, it's valid only with the QR code shown on the top and is considered verified with the same.

The test results have indicated the following:

The tested system (Stone samples, Steel Frame and fixing pins) has not withstand to the
design impacts applied to the vertical face of the cladding and the sample can be
considered failing the project acceptance criteria.
