INSTALLATION MANUAL

Dear customer, thank You for purchasing a JayTune Ducati DS Starting Cable Kit. This kit enables you
to use full starting potential of your battery, a thing we take for granted, but is often impossible to
achieve with few years old stock cabling.

Fitting a JayTune Cable Kit demands use of some tools, so in case of any doubt it is highly
recommended to leave it to a qualified technician. Altering installation of a vehicle should not be left
to any coincidence and can have disastrous consequences if not done right.

The JayTune Cable Kit is designed to be fit without any extra parts, not supplied in the kit itself.

This manual is intentionally kept as short and as simple as possible. Until the bike is brought together
and back to life, no part of this manual should be left unread, misunderstood or undone. JayTune can
not accept any liabilty if any damage is done by not exactly following this manual.

A bike with a healthy battery and a JayTune Cable Kit installed will achieve considerably higher
cranking speed, shorter starting procedure and more reliable starts and prolong life of a starter
motor, starter solenoid, sprag clutch and the battery.

A JayTune Ducati DS Starting Cable Kit consists of 3 power cables: No.1 is the shortest, it is for
positive battery terminal to starter solenoid connection. No.2 is longer, it is for battery negative
terminal to chassis ground connection, and No. 3 is the longest, it is for starting solenoid to starter
motor connection and it has a rubber insulator cap installed.
• Remove left trim to uncover the battery
• Unbolt both terminals – start with a negative one ((1) on the picture), and then the positive
(2). Secure negative terminal of a battery to avoid electrical contact with a cable.
• Remove plastic cover of terminals on a starting solenoid (3) and unbolt both washers
• Clean starting solenoid terminals if needed, and install cable No.1 between points 2 and 3 as
an addition to factory cables (that way you just got saved from cutting and soldering factory
harness, the wiring is even more solid and powerful, and modification is reversible). Stock
cable lug on the starter solenoid should be turned around 180 degrees to gain some space
for a massive lug on a JayTune cable. Tighten the M6 washer on solenoid to 10 Nm.

• Now you can refit a stock cable and a JayTune cable to the positive battery terminal (4). A
factory bolt is usually long enough to fit both. In case a bolt that came with an aftermarket
battery is too short, use a longer bolt (usually M6).
• Unbolt the factory cable from a starter motor under the engine (6) and fit a JayTune cable
No.3. Be careful not to break anything as this area (specifically the starter motor terminal -
(6)) as this particular area is highly exposed to elements and prone to corrode. If needed,
soak in WD-40 for some time before undoing a washer.
• Unbolt factory cable from an outgoing terminal of a starter solenoid, and remove it (5).
Route a JayTune cable on the same path, starting on the starter motor side to avoid
problems with routing because of a rubber cap, and finally bolt cable lugs on both sides.
Tighten to 10 Nm. Cover terminal of a starter motor with a rubber cap. Fit plastic terminal
cover back to the starter solenoid.
• Find a chassis ground point on the engine block on the left side of a front cylinder (7) and
unbolt it. Route the cable No.2 from the battery negative terminal to the chassis ground
point; it is easier to start routing at the battery side, a lug that bolts to the chassis is smaller.
• Turn stock cable lug around for 180 degrees to gain space for a massive cable lug on a
JayTune cable No. 2, and bolt both of them back to the engine block. Tighten to 10 Nm. Be
sure not to overtighten as the engine block is made of alloy and threads are easily stripped.
• Finally fit both negative terminals (stock and JayTune cable No.2) to the battery negative
terminal. Again, most batteries have bolts that are long enough to fit both lugs one over
another. If that is not the case, use longer bolts.
• Tidy cable routing to keep it in place, use cable ties if needed. Refit battery cover, switch
ignition switch on and wait for approx. 15 seconds. Set the clock, turn ignition off for 15
seconds and you are done. You can try to start the engine. Cranking should be much faster
and starting should be more reliable.

Have fun and take the best of your motorcycling adventures!

Stay safe, drive responsibly!
