1911 (1928) Revised Issues
All six denominations of the preceding family were revised

with different guilloches at left and right front, but only three
denominations were issued while the bank prepared to transition
to a central bank. Technically they are the first issues of the Banco
Central de Bolivia, but because they were printed in April 1928
before the final name of the new bank was known, they continue to
bear the name of the Banco de la Nacion Boliviana.

the Banco de la Nación Boliviana were overprinted on front with
Raúl Tovar Piérola Rene Gómez Garcia the name of the new bank, the Banco Central de Bolivia. These
Presidente Gerente provisionally overprinted notes were issued until 1934. Specialist
(President) (Manager) collectors should be aware that some notes have both large and
83 small overprint varieties. Also, some notes have a series consisting of
a single letter that cycles through the alphabet. Other notes have an
Javier Nogales Iturri Juan Cariaga Osorio alphanumeric series consisting of a single letter that cycles through
(1986 - 1988) the alphabet before advancing a 1- or 2-digit number.

1962 (1963 - 1982) First Issues
On 1 January 1963, the peso boliviano ($b) replaced the

boliviano (Bs) at a rate of 1:1,000. The denomination is expressed
exclusively in pesos bolivianos on front, and also in its equivalency
in bolivianos at lower center back. Preceding issues had the
series printed separately from the serial number, but these notes
incorporate the series as a prefix to the serial number, so take care
not to mistake the numeral in an alphanumeric prefix as part of the
6-digit serial number.

Decree 901 of 28 November 1986 established a new monetary

unit, the boliviano, which replaced the peso boliviano at a rate of
1:1,000,000, effective 1 January 1987. As a provisional measure,
existing stocks of old notes had the new values overprinted in
lithography on back.

These notes are like the preceding issues, but they have new
suffixes, larger BCB latent images on front, and windowed security
threads on denominations above 20 bolivianos. The 50-, 100-, and
200-boliviano notes with suffix H have wavy pearlescent stripes at
left on back with vertical 50BCB, 100BCB, and 200BCB patterns,
respectively.
On notes with suffix I, the REPUBLICADEBOLIVIA
microprinting changed to ESTADOPLURINACIONALDEBOLIVIA
and a pixelated pattern was added to the watermark between the
portrait and the electrotype denomination.

2018 - 2019 Issues
The Banco Central de Bolivia began introducing a new family

of five notes in denomination order starting in 2018 and ending
in April 2019. These notes bear the country’s official name,
Estado Plurinacional de Boliva, to reflect the multiculturalism of
the country and all of its citizens. These notes received the Best
New Series Award at the High Security Printing Latin America
Conference in 2019.
