TECHNICAL INFORMATION BULLETIN

MXDesigner™
Version 8.0
1 Introduction
This TIB covers MXDesigner™ version 8.0. This version includes CPU801 support, VAD (Visual Alarm Devices),
FV400 devices and bug fixes reported in MXDesigner™ version 7.2.

2 Installation
If MXDesigner™ 5.0/6.0/6.1/7.0/7.1/7.2 has already been installed, it is recommended that these earlier versions are
removed using Add/Remove program features from the Control Panel in Microsoft® Windows operating System.
MXDesigner™ 8.0 requires Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0 or later to be installed.
The MXDesigner™.msi/ZXDesignerInstaller.msi installer for Version 8.0 will guide the user through the new
installation except ADT installer MXDesigner™ADT.msi, because it runs silently in the background without showing
any installation wizard.

3 Compatibility
MXDesigner™ 8.0 is designed to run on Microsoft® Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8
operating system and requires at least Microsoft® .NET Framework Version 2.0 to have been installed.
MXDesigner™ 8.0 has been tested on Microsoft® Windows 7 Enterprise Edition (32/64 bit).
MXDesigner™ 8.0 is able to open projects which are saved from previous versions: 3.2.3 and later.
MXDesigner™ 8.0 is able to import files exported from MZXConsys 14.0 and above.
The MZX Panels and DDM800 introduced in version 6.0 of MXDesigner™ can only be exported to MZXConsys

5 Earlier Issues Resolved

 Issue has been resolved where PMM840 was added to the shopping list when added from the panel property.
PMM840 is actually included in SKU code of XLM800 kit, and it was not adding in the shopping list when
XLM800 is added to the panel. Now it’s corrected to - When XLM800 is added to the project then PMM840 will
not be added to the shopping list, PSU 40V meter will split into two, PMM840 will be selected by default in the
panel property window.
 Issue has been resolved where multi panel addition has been stopped from the context menu (right-click) option
in the Tool Box.
 Issue has been resolved where Designer fails while MZXConsys import if a point description contains a comma
(,). While import/export if a point description contains a comma (,) then it will change to semicolon (;).
 Issue has been resolved where MX Panel doesn’t import MZXConsys configuration with more than 4 loops.
 Issue has been resolved where wrong mode and sensitivity are set after MZXConsys import.
 Issues have been resolved where the LPSB3000, LPAV3000, LI, LIM800, Junction box and DDM 800 devices
did not support copy and paste.
 Issue has been resolved where Loop Copy from one loop to another pasted the devices with the addresses in
reverse order.
 Issue has been resolved where it was not possible to copy any loops which contain DDM800 devices.
 Call point(s) SKU’s have been corrected.
 Issue has been resolved where two COM820 were allowed under OCM and MPM.
 Issue has been resolved where Quad modules description was not getting saved in the project file.

6 Known Issues
 When importing and exporting configurations between MXDesigner™ and MZXConsys, the association between
an LPSB3000 or LPAV3000 and the device attached to it is lost.
 For 6 and 8 loop configurations and for some of the different panel types where the loop can only have 125
addresses instead of the usual 250 addresses, MXDesigner™ does not check correctly if the next address is
available when adding an Intrinsically Safe loop device.
 Loop IS spurs should not be copied to make a duplicate spur. This could result in an unsafe IS design.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION BULLETIN

 MXDesigner™ offers sensitivities for the DDM800 spur and loop modes in the range 1-16. MZXConsys
currently only supports a range of 1-13. If higher values are exported to MZXConsys, then MZXConsys will
default to sensitivity 1.
 The various CCU3 products are not included.
