The City of Baguio was created under the Act 2711 (RAC) on March 10, 1917.

The meaning and symbolism of the official seal of Baguio:


Upper portion - the pine trees, which clad the mountains, typifies the city.

Low portion – the zigzag road, a unique feature of the city.


Right side – the beautiful Bridal Veil Falls, one of the best features of Baguio City.
Diagonal line with gold coins - signify the mines of Baguio City.

Pine trees dominantly cover most of the mountains of Baguio The Kennon Road or Zigzag Road is the oldest access road from
the lowlands to Baguio. Today, it is the shortest way among the constructed roads that connect Baguio to the lowlands. The road
remains distinct for having a feeling of changing temperature from warm to cold as one traverse the ever winding road from the
lowlands to the City, and from cold to warm when going down to the lowlands. When going up to Baguio through the zigzag
road, the remarkable Bridal Veil Falls will be seen at the other side of the river, at the boundary of Camp 1 and Camp 2 in Tuba,
Benguet.Near the Baguio City are some gold mines where many people including Baguio residents are being employed.
