Sub: Number of Pages in the Ph.D. Thesis – Regarding.

In the general guidelines given for the preparation of Ph.D. thesis, with reference to the

size of the thesis it is mentioned,

“The size of the Thesis shall be normally between 100 and 400 pages of typed matter
reckoned from the first page of Chapter 1 to the last page of the thesis excluding reference
section”.

However, it is found that many theses submissions in recent times include the Appendix /

Annexure section after the chapters making the page count to 100 (one hundred) followed by

the reference section. Kindly note that the main content of the thesis excluding the reference

and appendix / annexure should be a minimum of 100 pages and a maximum of 400 pages.

Ph.D. theses that follow these criteria will only be accepted by the Centre for Research.
