Good morning/afternoon. Is everyone here? Do you understand? Are you finished?
Come in. Is anyone away today? What do you think? What can you see?
Sit down/Stand up, please. Where is (Juan)? Anything else?
What day is it today?

Starting the lesson Pairwork/Groupwork


Are you ready? Give this/these out, please. Find a partner.
Let’s begin/start. Do you have a (pencil)? Get into twos/threes.
Listen (to me). Open your books to page (4). Who’s your partner?
Look (at me/at the board). Turn to page (6). Make a circle.
Take out your books. Open/Close the door. Work with your partner/friend/group.

Managing the class Ending the lesson


Be quiet, please. Put your hands down. Put your books/notebooks/colored pencils away.
Look at me/Listen to me. Who’s next? Clean up.
Come to the front of the Repeat after me. Put that in the trash can, please.
class. Wait a minute, please. Collect the stickers/cards/spinners/scissors, please.
Come to the board. Hurry up. The lesson is finished.
Raise your hands. That’s all for today.
