The Portuguese shepherd dog ( Portuguese : cã o district attorney Serra de Aires , literally
'dog of Serra de Aires ' ) is a medium-sized breed of frump of the herding dog character ,
and is one of the autochthonal regional detent of Portugal .The Lusitanian gens refers to
Serra de Aires , a stack near Montforte in the Alentejo area ( sometimes mistaken for the
Junipero Serra d'Aire , a range of J. J. Hill or heap marking the boundary between Ribatejo

Appearance == Portuguese Sheepdog is a moderate-size Canis familiaris , standing 45 to 55
cm ( 17½ to 21½ ins ) at the withers for males ( females slightly smaller ) and 17 to 27 kg
( 37 to 60 lbs ) in weight .The frump 's body is long and has a long coat without an
undercoat , of medium thickness and described as having a `` butt like '' texture .The lack of
an undercoat makes the dog less insubordinate to extreme weather as a working domestic
dog .Typical coat colours include yellowish , chestnut , grayness , fawn , wolf Grey
( Portuguese : fulvo or lobeiro ) , and blackened , with tan marks .White hairs may exist
mixed in with the coat , but there should be no bombastic bloodless fleck .The tail should be
long , and a lifelike bobtail is a disqualification under the strain standard , meaning that
owners are discouraged from breeding such non distinctive frank , and tailless domestic dog
