1. OBJECTIVE

The objective of this method statement is to carryout flooring work (granite and tile) by
meeting the technical specification and complying with Standards.

2. SCOPE

The scope of this method statement includes shifting, laying (granite & tile) of flooring with
pattern given in the drawing at “ITPP Kharadi -Pune” project, while executing it in
accordance with Technical specifications.

4. EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND TACKLES

 Dumpy level or laser level.


 Wooden / rubber mallet.
 Notched trowel.
 Sprit level, aluminum straight edge.
 Cutting machine and mixing machine.
 Sponge / cloth
 Measuring box / gauge box
 Protective sheets.

5. MATERIAL USED

 Approved Cement, sand


 Approved Tile/Granite
 Approved Adhesives, Grouting materials
 Water

6. PROCEDURE

A. Material Storage and Handling:

 Granite/Tile shall be fabricated and finished at factory as per approved drawing and
delivered to site. Upon receipt of site, delivery note shall be verified by QC engineer
along with store keeper. They shell be stocked properly and protect from any
damages.
 Cement and grout materials shall be stored in designated locations as per
manufacturer recommendations. First in first out method shall be fallowed for issuing
materials.
 Sand shall be stacked at designed location and protected adequately from
contamination.
 Ensure all required materials are shifted and kept in near area for tile & granite work.

B. Sequence of work:
 Clean the floor area free from dust & debris.
 Remove all the unwanted dead mortars and required floor chippings to create
allowance to meet FFL.
 Obtain MEP clearance in-prior and ensure proper packing at junctions.
 Mark top level (Bull mark) of the flooring and the required gradient given in the
drawing.
 Place mortar CM – 1:4 ratio as per BOQ/Technical spec/ other fixing materials
(adhesives, bonding agents etc.,) for required thickness.
 Level the mortar for the required level to place the flooring material
(Granite & Tiles).
 Mark the starting point of laying as per shop drawing.
 Fixing the approved flooring materials (Granite & Tiles) with cement slurry / other
fixing materials (adhesives, bonding agents etc.,) from the starting point given in the
shop drawing.
 Necessary spacers to be provided to achieve even spacing and lining of flooring
material (Granite &, Tiles ).
 Make the top same level to meet top level given in drawing and the required gradient.

 Necessary cleaning & grouting to be done after placing the flooring material.
 Necessary curing to be done.
 Required protection to be done on the flooring.

7. RESPONSIBILITIES

 Project Manager: He shall be responsible for overall management of construction


activities.
 Site Engineer: He shall be responsible for Executing in safe work method as per
drawings and guide the supervisors and workmen.
 Surveyor: Surveyor shall ensure the markings and levels are established as per
approved drawings
 Site Supervisor: He shall be responsible managing all plant and machineries and labor
and safety of the workers.
 QA/QC Site In charge: He shall be responsible for ensuring the quality of work as per
the specifications and standards.
 HSE Manager/Engineer: He shall be responsible for assisting to engineer/supervisor to
ensure the safety of workers during the progress of work. Safety inductions of each
staff and workers shall be done and daily PPE check to be done and tool box talk shall
be carried out before the start of work. General safety awareness as well as particular
safety precautions and guidelines for activity to be carried out in that particular day
shall be discussed.
 Stores officer: He shall be responsible for receiving and storing of all incoming
materials. Also, responsible for maintaining the record of incoming and outgoing and
up to date stock details of materials.
