This document describes the installation of the dose area product measurement device
(DAP) on a Mobilett XP, XP Eco, XP Hybrid, XP Digital and XP CR (CR ITX 560)
NOTE Most of the installation steps described here are valid for all
types of the Mobilett XP family. Some steps specific to the XP
Digital or the CR (CR ITX 560) will be described additionally.

Objective 1.1
Installation of the ionization chamber, the dose display board, and the internal cabling.
NOTE To install the DAP device on the Mobilett XP CR (CR ITX 560),
only the arm cover needs to be removed. For Mobilett XP,
Eco, Hybrid and Digital, additional covers have to be
removed (e.g. side covers of MOBILETT and top cover, in
order to connect power supply cable to CPU board D916).
• For Mobilett XP, Eco, Hybrid and Digital(without D916, Part No.10272714 ), remove
the marked field as shown in (1/Fig. 4 / p. 8) (this step is not necessary for Mobilett XP
CR (CR ITX 560)).
• After removing the field, the arm cover has the cutouts shown in (Fig. 5 / p. 9)and
(Fig. 6 / p. 9).
• Remove the paper from the film as shown in (Fig. 7 / p. 9) and affix the film to the arm
cover according to (Fig. 8 / p. 9).
• For Mobilett XP, Eco, Hybrid and Digital (without D916, Part No. 10272714 ), mount
the connector holder as shown in (Fig. 9 / p. 10) using the nuts, and install the cable
(5/Fig. 1 / p. 4) according to(Fig. 10 / p. 10) and (Fig. 11 / p. 10) (Not necessary for
Mobilett XP CR (CR ITX 560).
• Mount the DAP control and display board (Fig. 12 / p. 11)) using the spacers, washers
and nuts according to (Fig. 15 / p. 12) (for Mobilett XP; Eco, Hybrid and Digital)
or(Fig. 14 / p. 12) (for Mobilett XP CR (CR ITX 560)).
For more details see also (Fig. 13 / p. 11)
NOTE On the Mobilett XP CR (CR ITX 560), the power supply cable
between D916 and DAP is already factory installed. Only for
the systems Mobilett XP, Eco, Hybrid, and Digital does the
cable need to be installed on site.
NOTE On the Mobilett XP Digital with a CPU board D916, Part No.
10272714, an additional cable between the D916 (RS232) and
the DAP display must be installed. Install this cable the same
way as the power supply cable.
• Ensure that the cable is not subject to any strain (Fig. 18 / p. 14) when the arm is
moved.
NOTE When the CPU board D916, Part No. 10272714 is installed, an
automatic dose value transfer from the DAP device to the
imaging system is possible. This function requires the instal-
lation of a RS232 cable.
• Connect the cable (10/Fig. 2 / p. 5) to the DAP display board (3/Fig. 14 / p. 12) and to
CPU board D916, RS 232 plug (1/Fig. 21 / p. 15).
Installation RS 232 cable (Only for Mobilett XP CR (CR ITX 560)). 2.3
NOTE For Mobilett XP, Eco, Hybrid and Digital, these cable installa-
tion instructions do not apply.
• Connect the cable (6a/Fig. 1 / p. 4)7 Fig A to the blue connector (1/Fig. 16 / p. 13)
located on the arm near the DAP Control board, and connect the other side
(6b/Fig. 1 / p. 4)to the DAP control and display board (3/Fig. 14 / p. 12).
• Connect the cable coming from the single tank side to (1/Fig. 22 / p. 17).
• Plug the connector coming from the ionization chamber into the RJ45 connector on the
collimator (1/Fig. 26 / p. 18).
• Connect the power cable, switch the unit ON, and check the DAP function. To do so:
• Press the test button on the DAP display. A value between 80-120 µGym2 (DAP resolu-
tion 0.1 µGym 2) or in the case of a high-resolution chamber, 8-12 µGym2 (DAP resolu-
tion 0.01 µGym2) must be subsequently displayed.
• If the display is incorrect, the measuring device must be calibrated. (Calibrating the
DAP system (only if necessary) / p. 20)
• Reinstall all covers in reverse order.
Calibration procedure 0
• System OFF
• Unplug the plug of the DAP ionization chamber (1/Fig. 27 / p. 20).
• Switch on the light localizer. Place the dosimeter in the center of the light field and in
open air (to prevent radiation backscatter).
• Measure the focus-to-dosimeter distance (A/Fig. 28 / p. 21) and then the width and
length of the light field on the surface. For optimal precision, position an unexposed film
cassette on the surface and measure the width and length of the exposed surface after
releasing an exposure.
• Measure the focus-to-light field/surface (B/Fig. 28 / p. 21).
• Use the following formula to calculate the reference surface FREF.
Fig. 29:
Reference DAP value = measured dose value x reference surface (unit µGy m2)
• Make a note of the DAP value displayed on the DAP measurement system.
• Calculate a reference value using the following formula:
Reference value (%) = ((100 ⋅ DAP value on the display): Calculated DAP value) -
100
The reference value shows the deviation between the actual DAP value (measured
using the dosimeter) and the DAP value measured by the DAP measurement sys-
tem. If the reference value is negative, the DAP value displayed is lower than the
actual value. If the reference value is positive, the opposite is true. When the refer-
ence value is below ± 5%, the calibration is complete.
• To correct the deviation on the calibration tool, press the "UP" button (for a negative ref-
erence value) or the "DOWN" button (for a positive reference value). Pressing the but-
ton once effects a change in the reference value of approximately 0.5%.
NOTE The middle button on the DAP calibration tool is for test pur-
poses. It has the same function as the test button on the DAP
display.
• Repeat the calibration procedure until the deviation is less than 5%.
• System OFF
• Remove the DAP calibration tool and reconnect the DAP ionization chamber
(1/Fig. 27 / p. 20).
• System ON
• Press the Reset and Test buttons on the DAP display to complete the calibration proce-
dure.
X • Release an exposure.
