1.0- Introduction 1.0 - ‫المقدمــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــة‬

 This method statement describes the sequence of activities involved for PPR pipes installation
works to be performed by Al Ain General Contracting Company LLC.
 This method statement will be applicable for Contract No. PGC/CFD/572/60/2021/360

2.0- Scope of Works 2.0- ‫نطــــــــــــــــــــــــاق األعمــــــــــــــــــــــــــال‬

 Scope of the works shall include;

 The sequence of activities involved for installing PPR pipes and fittings

3.0- Sequence &Work Method 3.0 - ‫طـــــــــريقة العمــــــــــــل و التسلســــــــل‬

3.0 Methodology
3.1 Preparation for Piping
a) Mark the routing of the high level water supply piping as per the approved drawing.
b) Make necessary supports for hanging the pipes as per the required pipe sizes.
c) Distance between the supports to be as per the required pipe sizes.
d) Make the supports and clamps in a straight line and in same level.

e) Use approved pipe support clamps.

3.2 Piping
o Prepare the welding machine by fitting it with a welding dies of the diameter
to be welded. Connect the welding machines to power supply and wait until
the machine reaches the working temperature.
o Cut the pipes at the right angle to the pipe axis using suitable pipe cutter.
o Remove any burrs or cutting chips in the cutting area.
o Mark the welding depth at the end of the pipe.
o Without turning insert, the end of a pipe into the heating sleeve up to the
marked welding depth and at the same time slide without turning the fitting
into the other side of the heating tool up to the stop.
o Leave the pipe and fitting on the heating tool until the heating time is
elapsed.

o At the end of heating time remove the pipe and the fitting from the heating
tool and push them immediately into each other up to the mark indicating the
welding depth.
o During this process, do not rotate pipe and fitting relative to each other.
o Allow the joint cool fully before using.
o The welded pipes and fittings can be hanged in the provided supports.
o For branches for the main line saddles shall be used.
o The pipe to be drilled with intended outlet by using suitable drilling tool.
o Remove the burrs and debris at the bore hole and the welding surface to be
made clean and dry.
o Insert the heating tool on the concave side of the weld in saddle tool into the
hole drilled in the pipe until the tool is completely in contact with the outer
layer of the pipe.
o The weld in saddle tool is inserted into the heating sleeve until the saddle
surface is up against the convex side of the welding tool and leaves it for 30
seconds.
o After the welding tool is removed, the weld in saddle tool is immediately
inserted in to the heated drilled hole and should be pressed for about leave it
for 15 seconds.
o Allow the joint fully to cool before using.
o The welding of pipes and fittings can be performed after hanging into the
supports or before depends on the requirement.
o PPR pipe is installed horizontally or perpendicular. No angular diagonals are
carried out during installation.
o After finishing the piping as per the approved shop drawings, plug all the
ends of the water outlets.
o Install calibrated pressure gauge during testing.
o Fill the line with water and put Pressure for 1.5 times the working pressure
for about 2 hours, for pressure testing activity.
o Raise work inspection request for installation & pressure test invite client
representative/consultant for final inspection to have an approval.

3.3 Acceptance – Pressure Test

o After reaching the test pressure, the drop in pressure must be noted over
time. Slight pressure drop normally occurs due to some further expansion of
the pipe.
o Constant pressure (or very small drop) indicated a satisfactory result, while
bigger pressure drop may indicate a leak.
o It is recommended that the pressure should be held for minimum period of
15 minutes.
o If any leaks were noticed, that fittings/pipes to be replaced by new ones.

3.4 Insulation & Cladding

o Once the work is accepted and approved by the consultant, the pipes shall
be insulated wherever is applicable as per the specification.
o Cut the insulation as per the required size and length.
o Install the insulation around the pipe and rap it tightly with cloth.
o Apply foster uniformly on the insulated pipe and let it dry.
o Once dried aluminum cladding can be done wherever is applicable as per
the specification.
o Cut the aluminum sheets as per the required pipe size and length.
o Shape it as per the requirement, and for each fitting.
o Fix the aluminum cladding around the insulated pipes properly.
