Watering can Gnome.

Hi! I like creating different characters and bringing them


to life with the help of my magic crochet hook.

Abbreviations:

ch – chain stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
inc – increase, 2 sc in the next stitch
dc inc – 2 dc in the next stitch
dec – decrease, single crochet 2 stitches together
(16) – number of stitches in a round
(inc, sc)*N – repeat N times
BLO – back loop only
FLO – front loop only
3dcCL - a cluster of 3 double stitches.
A cluster of stitches, made into the same stitch or chain
space that are joined together at the top.
rev sc - reverse single crochet

Materials needed:

1. Yarn Art Jeans, 55% cotton, 45% acryl, 50g/160m(weight


2 Fine yarn, 1,76 oz/174 yds), next colors:

• grey № 46
• Light grey № 80
• red № 90
• white № 01
• green № 69
• yellow № 88
• nude № 05

2. Crochet hook 2 mm or 2.25 mm (US: B, UK:14)


3. Fiberfill, thick sewing needle, pins.
4. Piece of cardboard 3 on 3 inch for one gnome’s base.

If you follow this advice your gnomes will be 20 cm/ 8


inch.

Body
With grey yarn.
Start with making a round base. Work in continuous rounds
without slip stitches.

Rnd 1: 7 sc in the MR
Rnd 2: 7 inc (14)

Cut off the base of cardboard.
Rnd 8: BLO 49 sc
Rnd 9-19: sc in each stitch around 11
rounds.
Insert the cardboard base.

Stuff the body evenly and firmly with
the fiberfill.

Cut off the yarn. Hide the tail.
Connect light grey yarn to the free
loops 6th and then 22th rounds and
crochet sl st around as shown on the
photo. Cut off the yarn. Hide the
tail.

Handle
With light grey yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the MR
Rnd 2-33: sc in each st around.
Cut off the yarn, leave a long end.
Close the top using a needle, sew to
the hat.

Pipe
With light grey yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the MR
Rnd 2: 6 inc (12)
Rnd 3: 12 sc
Rnd 4: BLO 12 sc
Rnd 5: 12 sc
Rnd 6: (dec, 1 sc)*4 (8)
Rnd 7-12: sc in each st around 6
rounds.
Fold so that the stitches of the last
round line each other.
Crochet opposite stitches with 3-4
sc.
Cut off the yarn, leave a long tail,
sew to the hat.

Flowers
Make 2. Start with yellow yarn.
Rnd 1: 10 sc in MR, connect white yarn,1 sl st.
Rnd 2: ch 2, 2 dc in next stitch, ch 2, 1 sl st in next
stitch. Repeat 5 times.
Cut off the yarn, hide the tail.

Leaves
With green yarn. Make 2 leaves.
Chain 9, start with the 2nd loop from
the hook.
1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc, 3 sl st
in last stitch,
work along the other side of the
foundation chain: 2 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1
hds, 1 sc.
Cut off the yarn, leave a long end for
sewing.

Little strawberry
With red yarn. Make 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the MR
Rnd 2: (2 sc, inc)*2 (8)
Rnd 3: (3 sc, inc)*2 (10)
Rnd 4: (4 sc, inc)*2 (12)
Rnd 5: 12 sc
Rnd 6: 6 dec (6)
Add some fiberfill. Cut off the yarn.

Sew leaves, strawberry and flowers to the hat as shown on
the photo.

Strawberry decor
With red yarn. Make 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the MR
Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc)*3 (9)
Rnd 3: (2 sc, inc)*3 (12)

Rnd 5: (4 sc, inc)*3 (18)
Rnd 6: 18 sc
Rnd 7: (1 sc, dec)*6 (12)
Rnd 8: 6 dec (6)
Add some fiberfill. Cut off the yarn.
Close the top using a needle, hide the end.
With green yarn: (Chain 7, sl st in last stitch) repeat 3
times.
Sew to the top of hat.
Embroider the strawberry with green and white yarn as shown
on the photo.

Arms
Start with white yarn.
Rnd 1: 8 sc in the MR
Rnd 2: (inc, 3 sc)*2 (10)
Rnd 3: 10 sc
Rnd 4: 4 sc, 3dcCL, 5 sc (10)
(3dcCL - a cluster of 3 dc)
Rnd 5: 10 sc
Connect the grey yarn:
Rnd 6: BLO 10 sc
Rnd 7-13: sc in each stitch around 7
rounds.
Stuff the bottom part of the arm (hand)
with fiberfill.
Fold so that the stitches of the last
round line each other.
Crochet opposite stitches with 4-5 sc.
Cut off the yarn, leave a long tail.

Nose
With nude yarn.
Rnd 1: 7 sc in the MR
Rnd 2: 7 inc (14)
Rnd 3: (inc, 1 sc)*7 (21)

Rnd 6: 7 dec (7)
Add some fiberfill.
Close the top using a needle.

Beard.
With white yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the MR

Rnd 5: (inc, 2 sc)*4 (16)

rounds.
Rnd 13: (dec, 4 sc)*4 (20)
Fold so that the stitches of the last round line each
other. Crochet the opposite stitches with 9-10 sc. Cut
off the yarn, leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly and decoration
Sew the arms and beard to the free loops of 19th round of
body.
Sew the nose in the center of the beard as shown on the
photo.

Put on the hat. The top of arms and nose should be placed
under the hat. Move them the way you like.
Take off the hat, sew the arms and nose to the body.
Put on the hat and attach it with hidden stitches.
