Unit 2 Speaking Test

Use Sharebook pages 13, 14, 15.


1 Cut up the following picture cards on page 14: 5 and 13 (cameras), 8 and 16 (balls),
and 9 and 10 (scooters).
2 Print and cut out two copies of the cards on page 15.
3 Remove or cover the sample answers and instructions at the bottom of all
Sharebook pages.

Question 1
Teacher: How old are you?
Student: [Answers will vary.]

Question 2
Put the cards face down in a pile between you and the student with page 13 next to the pile. Turn up the top card
and place it below page 13. Touch the card. If you turn up a card of an item in the girl’s room, ask the question
about the boy and vice versa. Be sure to elicit a “No” answer.
Teacher: That’s [his / her] [car].
Student: No. That’s [his / her] [teddy bear].
Now put the card at the bottom of the pile. Turn the next card face up.

Question 3
Shuffle the cards in both piles. Then gesture to the piles to encourage the student to repeat the routine above.
Answer correctly.
Teacher: Now it’s your turn.
Student: That’s [his / her] [ball].
Teacher: Yes, it is. / No. That’s [his / her] [scooter].

Question 4
Give one card of the bag, glue, paint, and paintbrush to the student. Keep the cards of the tablet, photo, marker,
and scissors.
Teacher: (Touch your card of the tablet.) Is this your tablet?
Student: No, it isn’t.
Give the second card of the bag, paint, and paintbrush to the student. Do not give the glue card as it has no
plural. Keep the second card of the tablet, photo, marker, and scissors.
Teacher: (Touch two of the same cards of the student.) Are these your [bags / paints / paintbrushes]?
Student: Yes, they are.

Remove all the second cards of each item. Gesture to the pages to encourage the student to repeat the
routine above.
Teacher: Now it’s your turn.
Student: Is this your [bag]?
Teacher: Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.
Give the second card of the bag, paint, and paintbrush to the student. Do not give the glue card as it has no
plural. Keep the second card of the tablet, photo, marker, and scissors.
Student: Are these your [scissors]?
Teacher: Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.
