Day 7
Day 7
SINGULAR/PLURAL
Form:
● Subject + Base Verb (s/es for third person singular)
● Example: She sings.
Use:
● Used for habitual actions, general truths, and facts.
Explanation:
The present simple tense is like a magic wand we use to talk about things that happen
regularly, facts that are always true, or habits that someone has.
When we talk about things that he, she, or it does, we usually add an "s" or "es" to the end of
the verb. For example, "He plays soccer every Saturday."
Practice Exercises:
1. Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the verb:
● She _______reads_____ (read) books every night before bed.
● The sun ____rise________ (rise) in the east.
● Dogs _____bark______ (bark) when they are excited.
● I _______like_____ (like) to eat ice cream on hot days.
2. Choose the correct verb form:
● He ______goes______ (go/goes) to school every day.
● The cat ____sleep________ (sleep/sleeps) on the sofa.
● They ______watch______ (watch/watches) movies on weekends.
● She _____runs_______ (run/runs) fast.
Explanation:
The present continuous tense is like a snapshot of what's happening right now. It's like
catching someone in the middle of an action. We use it when we want to talk about
something that is happening at the moment of speaking or something that is currently in
progress. For example, "She is eating dinner."
Practice Exercises:
1. Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the verb:
● They _____are_______ (play) in the park right now.
● I ______am______ (study) for my English test.
● The dog _____is_______ (chase) its tail.
● She _____is_______ (dance) in the living room.
2. Choose the correct verb form:
● He _______is_____ (is/are) sleeping.
● We _______am_____ (am (form are) /is) watching a movie.
● They _____are_______ (are/is) singing a song.
● She _____is_______ (am/is) eating lunch.
Imagine the present simple tense as your daily routine, like brushing your teeth every
morning or playing with your toys after school. It's what you do regularly. The present
continuous tense is like a video of you doing something right now, like jumping up and down
or eating your favorite snack. It's happening at this very moment!
