Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) is when the pressure in your blood vessels is > or = 140/90mmHg. It
is common, it is preventable but can be serious and cause complications if not treated.

IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

- Most persons never have symptoms


- Most persons are unaware that they are hypertensive
- It affects many organs of the body, leading to severe complications
- It is called a “SILENT KILLER”
- With hypertension, it’s possible to look very healthy and not be healthy

SAFE PRACTICES TO THAT CAN HELP CONTROL HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

1. Maintain a healthy weight


2. Exercise regularly
3. Eat a healthy diet
4. Limit alcohol intake
5. Reduce amount of salt in your diet
6. Quit smoking
7. Good night sleep
8. Reduce stress
9. Monitor blood pressure regularly
