1) What are we referring to when we say “grammatical sequences vs. ungrammatical


sequences in a language?

When we refer to grammatical sequences the words must be in the right order. For
example, “The lucky boy” the article “The” must go before the adjective “lucky” in the
other hand ungrammatical sequences doesn’t follow the right order for example “Boy
the lucky”.

2) Traditional grammar involves 4 aspects. What are they? Choose ONE and explain
it.

Traditional grammar involves 4 aspects which is 1- The parts of speech 2- Agreement


3- Grammatical gender 4- Traditional analysis

The Parts of speech:


English inherited several terms from Greek and Latin, which are used in describing
those basic grammatical components known as the 8 parts of speech. Witch is.
1- Noun 2- Articles 3-adjecitves 4-verbs 5-Adverbs 6- Prepositions 7-Pronouns 8-
Conjunctions

3) Explain the difference between the prescriptive vs. descriptive Approaches. Give
some examples of the perspective approach.

The difference between prescriptive and descriptive approaches are fundamental.


The prescriptive approach is an approach to grammar that has rules for the proper use
of the language or the correct way of using the language such as “He asked me to not be
late.” And “Who did you go with?”. In the other hand the descriptive approach is an
approach to grammar that is based on a description of the structure actually used in a
language, not what should be used.

3) What are the three descriptive analyses that are used to describe the structure of
English sentences?
