Introduction to Developing Your PDP

What is a Personal Development Plan (PDP)?

The aim of creating a Personal Development Plan is to document a process of self-analysis, personal reflection and honest appraisal of your strengths and
areas of development. This should enable you to consider your future career, professional and personal development in WFP.

What do I need to do?

The PDP follows below.

The plan should be developed as per guidelines outlined below. The purpose of this is to help you in evaluating your professional development. It enables
you to reflect upon your experiences and to focus on the next stage of your professional development. This PDP will comprise of three parts:

 Part 1 – Personal Analysis. This part focuses on your analysis of your strengths and areas of development.

 Part 2 – Setting Goals. This involves setting new and measurable career and or personal development goals (SMART goals) for yourself. It is
advisable to develop these on consultation with your mentor and possibly your supervisor.

 Part 3 – Engagement Template. This is a guide on setting the tone for the conversation and having a meaning discussion.
