Maie)

Reminders:
1) Students are ALLOWED to use a calculator.
2) Write the correct symbol for decimal point.
3) Use the correct symbols for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
4) Write the unit of measurement all the time.
5) In solving word problem, show your given, solution and final answer.
6) Don’t be in a hurry.
7) Read and follow the instructions all the time.

PART 1: PARTS OF THE CIRCLE

PART 2: FORMULAS TO REMEMBER

1) Area of the sector = π r2 ∙
360

2) Arc Length = 2 π r ∙
360

3) Circumference = πd or 2πr

4) Area of the circle = πr2

5) Equation of a circle = (x−h)2 +( y−k )2=r 2 where (h, k) is the center of the circle and r is the radius.

In some book, they use different symbol for (h, k) but they are all the same.

6) Circle in general form: x 2+ y 2+ cx +dy +e=0 . Here, c, d, e and e are real numbers.
PART 3: CIRCLE THEOREMS

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

PART 4: EQUATION OF THE CIRCLE

A. Identify the radius and the center of the circle, write the equation.
B. Determine the center, radius equation and intercepts.

1) x 2+ y 2−8 x+ 12 y +16=0 2) x 2+ y 2+ 4 x−2 y−4=0

3) x 2+ y 2−10 x+ 2 y +10=0 4) x 2+ y 2+ 2 x +12 y+ 36=0
