Sledge
Skids (make 2)

With blue yarn

1 – 7 ch, do NOT join into the round; beginning from the 2-d ch from hook:
5 sc, 3 sc into the last ch, 4 sc on the other side of chs, inc (14)
2 – 40 – 14 sc (39 rounds) But it’s not necessary to count the rounds very accurately  - just make two
skids of the same length.

You crochet in rounds, but you should flatten the skids. You can do it while crocheting – crochet one of scs
inserting the hook into both loops of the necessary st and into one loop of the opposite st (look at the photo
below). Do this once each 6 or 7 rounds. Or you can flatten them after they will be finished with a needle,
sewing a few stitches through the skid.
Put a new mark right on the side and crochet the “point” of the skid:

41 – 6 hdc, 1 sc, 6 sl st, 1 sc (14) scs are on the sides, hdcs – on the bottom part of the round, and sl sts – on the upper part.
42 – 6 hdc, 8 sc (14)
43 – 1 sc, 5 hdc, 7 sc Do not finish this round, put a new mark and begin the next round
44 – dec, 5 hdc, dec, 5 sc (12)
45 – dec, 4 sc, Cut the yarn, tighten the opening, do not stuff, hide the yarn end inside.

A way to flatten a skid while crocheting the mark before 41-st round

The upper part of sledge

With red 30 ch + 1 more ch

Crochet in rows, crocheting one additional ch at the end of each row, do not crochet this ch after you turn.

Crochet 18 rounds, changing colors after each 2 rows. You will get 9 strips. You can take any colors you
like; I did with light blue and red.

Make two similar parts and sew them together. If you crochet too softly, maybe you will need to insert a
piece of plastic between two crocheted parts. You can use carton paper for this too, but it will be impossible
to wash the sledge in this case.

Little columns (make 4)

With grey
10 ch, with sl st join into the round
1 – 4 – 10 sc
sl st, cut the yarn, leave a long enough end for sewing.

Sew the columns to the skids as it is shown in photos in the next page. Stuff the columns. Sew the upper part

Ski (make 2)
Crochet skis as you did skids but do 25 rounds instead of 39.
1 – 7 ch, do not join into the round, beginning from the second ch from hook do:
5 sc, 3 sc into the last ch, 4 sc into chs on the opposite side, inc (14)
2 – 26 – 14 sc (25 rounds) but it’s not necessary to count them very accurately  - just do two skis of the
same length.
Put the mark on the side and crochet the “point” of the ski:
27 – 6 hdc, 1 sc, 6 sl st, 1 sc (14) scs are on the sides, hdcs – on the bottom part of the round, and sl sts – on the upper part.
28 – 6 hdc, 8 sc (14)
29 – 1 sc, 5 hdc, 7 sc, do not crochet the last 1 sc put the new mark
30 – dec, 5 hdc, dec, 5 sc (12)
31 – dec, 4 sc, cut the yarn, tighten the opening, hide the yarn end inside.

Now you can sew the penguin to skis or not. My penguin just stand on skis.

Scarf
With pink 5 ch + 1 ch
Crochet in rows doing one ch at the end of each row, turn, do not crochet the ch
5 sc in each row till you’ll have the necessary length. Try the scarf on the penguin.
Insert white pieces of yarn in each st of each scarf end.

That’s all!
