Debating Speech
Debating Speech
in the running of the electoral process as well. The promises you have
taken upon are more reasonable and truthful while the other party gives
unrealistic promises. Because of people who may not understand politics
completely or simply do not care, vote for the other party which means
that your party has lost a close match.
Hello everyone, I am the second speaker for the aff team and I will speak
about how abolishing compulsory voting will affect the outcome of the
votes .
Although the first speaker on the neg team stated___ we will _____
instead so that_____
Now I will talk about my main point
If we abolish compulsory voting, Those who vote will be those who are
informed, ACTUALLY impacted and deserve to have more of a say . For
example women will be voting on women's issues, parents will be voting
for changes to education and aboriginal people will vote for aboriginal
rights.
There could also be a donkey vote where voters who may not
understand or do not care about voting write the numbers of the order
that candidates written which gives the first person an advantage. This
makes it harder for the counting staff and risks making the vote informal
but as long as all the boxes are ticked, your VOTE WILL COUNT.
Now, I will address the minority groups. There could also be practical
barriers, like long work hours, not being able to sacrifice a pay check just
to vote, language barriers or transportation problems. For example, if you
work on voting weekend, the paycheck is usually increased, and people
who are living paycheck to paycheck could greatly benefit from the extra
money, so this heavily impacts them.
They could also be part of minority or cultural group that haven't been
treated well or kindly by the government, therefore that group may feel
strongly about not voting. For example, groups like Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander People who have been treated horribly by the government
in the past may not want to be a part of the voting.
