BACKGROUND
• Budgeting is one of the practical skills that come in useful for
the students (Norvilitis, et al., 2006). It is the process of
creating a plan to spend your money.

• Going to Senior High School is probably the first time

students get to experience independence. Being
independent is both a previlege and responsibility. One of
these responsibilities is managing their monetary expenses
relating to academic purposes. Allowance is a need for every
student, it is a means of survival. Being essential, it is just
right to state that students shall be able to budget their
allowance appropriately for their academic expenses. Proper
budgeting is important. If done responsibly, it can give both
the students needs and wants.

The researchers would require 12-15 participants
from Senior High School Students enrolled in
Matanao National High School. Purposive sampling
was used in selecting participants for this research,
who were at least 18 years old at the time of data
collection. One of the qualifications is that they were
either from the STEM, HUMSS, or ABM strand. This
sampling technique was utilized because it focuses
on specific characteristics of a population area of
interest, allowing the researchers to address the
research questions.

The researcher read and wrote memos about all
transcripts several times and the researcher
described thoroughly how the participants defined
and explained situations. After being immersed with
the wealth of data collected, the data was narrowed
progressively into bits and important groups of key
data. This was done through the process of coding.
The process of data analysis was done by recording
respondents' responses from the interview in
database Microsoft excel.
