 GRAMMAR

A- Sıfatların üstünlük halleri elde edilirken tıpkı karşılaştırmalı sıfatlarda olduğu gibi tek
heceliler çok heceliler ve de düzensiz sıfatlar olmak üzere üç kategoride incelemek
mümkündür. Tek heceli sıfatlar son ek olarak Kabul edilen est ekini alırken önlerinde
de daima the ile kullanılırlar. Sıfatların üstünlük halleri ile cümle yapılırken birden
fazla nesne ya da kişi birbiriyle karşılaştırılır.

ÖRNEKLER: small the smallest

thin the thinnest

cold the coldest

dirty the dirtiest

clever the cleverest

new the newest

fast the fastest

B- Karşılaştırmalı sıfatlarda olduğu gibi bazı sıfatları birden fazla heceye sahip
olduklarından dolayı üstünlük halleri elde edilirken farklı bir yol izlenir. Dolayısıyla
iki veya daha fazla heceye sahip sıfatların üstünlük halleri başlarına the most
eklenerek elde edilir.

 C- Düzensiz sıfatlar olan good ve bad sıfatlarının üstünlük halleri farklı bir şekilde elde
edilir. Bu iki sıfat ne sonlarına est ne de başlarına most alırlar. Bu iki sıfatın üstünlük
halleri sırasıyla the best ve the worst’ tür.
