Curriculum planning is the core of teaching and learning and an important aspect in education.

It doesn’t only concern the teachers but also the parents, and other citizens, educators and
most importantly the students. A well-crafted curriculum serves as a reference to make sure
that teachers are on the right track of the teaching process and students are able to build
knowledge, skills and behaviours intended for a specific course or discipline.
Teachers are essential in the implementation of a well-crafted curriculum even during this time
of pandemic may it be in modular distance learning, online distance learning or any other
learning modalities. Learning through printed and digital modules emerged as the most
preferred distance learning method of parents with children who are enrolled this academic
year as well as to learners in rural areas where internet is not accessible for online learning.
In order to ensure that there is learning even in this kind of set up, we teachers need to be
flexible enough in the curriculum implementation. The traditional way of teaching may be
difficult to do during this time, but we planned and crafted other ways that will address the
current situation. We provided modules and learning activities that will encourage students to
be active learners even in their own environment, which is outside the four corners of the
classroom. We teachers help students develop new routines and strategies, keeps the easy part
easy, finds new ways to meet students’ needs and keeps up positive relationships with students
and families.
Indeed, it is very important that teachers are open to changes in the strategies and approaches
in teaching. Like what happen now with this pandemic. It is not easy to adjust from the
traditional way of teaching to the modular distance learning but we have to embrace this
change. This is the only way we can be able to provide quality teaching to our students.
Above all these things, I believe that there is no thing as perfect curriculum implementation.
What matters for us is that we are able to deliver the knowledge and authentic learning
experiences that will be helpful for the growth of our students.
