Reading Lesson

1. PRE-READING:

A. Warm up:
• Greetings and activities
• Use pictures to activate background knowledge.
• Pre-teach vocabulary.
B. Quick Discussion:
• Have a brief discussion about sports and ask learners about their favorite sports.
What’s your favorite sport?
Do you like watching it or playing it?
How often do you play football?
How many players are there in a football team?
Is it popular in Morocco?
• Encourage them to share their experiences or feelings about playing or watching sports.
• Identify and discuss key terms related to football (e.g., soccer, team sport, coordination, agility…)
What emotions do you typically experience while watching a close or intense game?
What aspects of your favorite sport do you find most exciting or enjoyable?
What are the benefits of sports
C. Topic Prediction:
• Before reading, ask learners to cross out the words that may not appear in the text and predict the topic
of the text based on a picture.
• Guess the title.

2. READING:

A. Ask Students to Read the Text.


B. Prediction Checking:
• Students complete the image circling task.
C. Skimming:
• Teacher reads the passage aloud while students follow along.
• Students complete the fill-in-the-gap task.
• Drill and Clarify Keywords (e.g.: Soccer; Team; Teammates; Agility)
D. Scanning:
• Students complete the True/False task, justifying their answers with a partner or small group.

3. POST-READING:

A. Reviewing:
• Have a whole-class discussion about the 'important thing' and 'how to play' questions. Students can
share with the whole group.
B. Expansion:
• In groups of two, students write or draw their answer about their football experience. Encourage them
to share their thoughts.
