1.INTRODUCTION

1.1 General introduction

A construction company is a business entity that specializes in the planning, design, and
execution of various construction projects. These projects can range from building residential
homes and commercial structures to infrastructure developments like roads, bridges, and
utilities. Construction companies play a vital role in the development and growth of
communities, as they are responsible for turning architectural designs into physical realities.
They manage a wide range of activities, including project management, site preparation,
procurement of materials, and skilled labour, ensuring that construction projects are completed
safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the specified plans and regulations. The construction
industry is diverse, encompassing various trades and services, and it is essential for the overall
development of a region or country's infrastructure.

These companies bring together an array of skilled professionals, including architects,

engineers, project managers, skilled laborers, and subcontractors, each contributing their
expertise to deliver projects that meet exacting standards of safety, quality, and design.
Coordinating these resources, they manage complex logistics, procure materials, operate heavy
machinery, and ensure the completion of projects on time and within budget.

The construction industry is not only about bricks and mortar; it's about innovation,
sustainability, and a commitment to the environment. In addition to their technical expertise,
these companies also excel in effective project management, often working closely with clients,
regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure that projects align with legal requirements and the
vision of the community. They play a vital role in economic development, providing jobs and

2.3 Site work
It refers to the various activities and tasks that are performed at the location or site where a
construction project is planned. These activities are typically carried out before the actual
construction of buildings or infrastructure begins.

2.3.1 Substructure works

1. Excavation: The process of digging, excavation, is a crucial part of substructure works.
It creates space for foundations, basements, and other below-ground components.
2. Foundation: The foundation is the part of the substructure that transfers the load of the
superstructure to the underlying soil or bedrock. There are different types of
foundations, including shallow foundations (such as footings and rafts) and deep
foundations (such as piles), chosen based on soil conditions and building loads.
3. Footings: Footings are concrete structures that distribute the superstructure's load over a
larger area. They are placed beneath the columns, piers, or walls of a building. Footings
prevent settlement and ensure even load distribution.
4. Substructure Waterproofing: To prevent water infiltration, substructures are often
waterproofed with membranes, coatings, or other systems. To prevent water infiltration,
substructures are often waterproofed with membranes, coatings, or other systems.

2.3.2 Superstructure works

1. Columns: Columns are vertical members that support the weight of the building. They are
typically made of concrete or steel, and they are often used in conjunction with beams to create
a strong and stable structure.
2. Beams: Beams are horizontal members that support the weight of the roof and other
structural elements of the building. They are typically made of concrete or steel, and they are
often used in conjunction with columns to create a strong and stable structure.
3. Walls: Walls provide support for the roof and other structural elements of the building, and
they also divide the interior of the building into different spaces.
4. Slabs: Slabs are horizontal surfaces that provide support for floors, roofs, and other structural
elements of the building. They are typically made of concrete or steel, and they are often
reinforced with mesh or rebar to increase their strength and durability.
5. Roofs: Roofs protect the interior of the building from the elements. They are typically made
of a variety of materials, such as shingles, tiles, or metal.
2.3.3 Construction machines used in the site

Working process
The working process of a concrete mixer is relatively simple. The ingredients (cement, water,
and aggregates) are loaded into the mixer drum. The drum is then rotated, causing the
ingredients to mix together. The mixing time will vary depending on the type of mixer and the
desired consistency of the concrete. Once the concrete is mixed, it is discharged from the mixer
drum. The concrete can then be poured into molds or forms to create concrete structures, such
as foundations, walls, and slabs.
Ratio: - 1: 5: 7

Importance of concrete mixer

1. Concrete mixers ensure that the ingredients are mixed thoroughly and evenly, which
produces a stronger and more durable concrete.
2. Concrete mixers can mix large quantities of concrete quickly and efficiently, which
saves time and labor costs.
3. Concrete mixers help to reduce waste by ensuring that the correct proportions of
ingredients are used and by preventing the concrete from over mixing.
4. Concrete mixers can help to improve safety on construction sites by reducing the need
for manual mixing, which can be strenuous and dangerous.
Functions of concrete lifting machine
A concrete lifter is a machine used to lift and transport concrete to high places. It is typically

used on construction sites to pour concrete into foundations, walls, and other structures.
Concrete lifters come in a variety of sizes and configurations, but they all work on the same
basic principle. They have a platform or bucket that is attached to a hoist mechanism. The
hoist mechanism can be powered by electricity, hydraulics, or diesel. Lifting and transporting
concrete to high places. Pouring concrete into foundations, walls, and other
structures .Reducing the risk of workers' back. The concrete lifter is positioned at the base of
the structure where the concrete needs to be poured.
Working process concrete mixer
1. The concrete lifter is positioned at the base of the structure where the concrete needs to
be poured.

2. The platform or bucket of the concrete lifter is loaded with concrete.

3. The hoist mechanism is used to raise the platform or bucket to the desired height.

4. Once the platform or bucket is in place, the operator dumps the concrete out onto the
structure being poured.

5. The platform or bucket is lowered back down to the ground.
