The utilization of computers in education has become a subject of intense debate.

Some people
are in favor of the view that it is a positive trend whilst others believe it entails negative
consequences. In this essay, we will discuss both points of the view.
First of all, the availability of a computer in education can make it a whole easier and faster to
access everything students need to research. In just a few clicks, everyone can find out all the
answers they require in a project instead of spending much time searching for the right book to
do assignments compared with the past, making the learning process less frustrating. These days,
many students who are occupied with tough exercises, and projects have to search for useful
information or tip learning, hence the support of a computer seems like a convenient and ideal
option. The effectiveness of computers in learning is undeniable; however, many students abuse
computers leading to cheating on exams. To illustrate, when pupils have any problems with a test
that they don’t have the ability to solve, they will automatically search online for answers to test
questions and hand out the worksheets to get good marks. Therefore, whilst computers can
provide helpful information, in the long run, bad habits arise when students abuse too much.
The last advantage of the computer is its convenience. Convenience means that it is suitable for
people’s purposes and needs with the least difficulty and the computer can meet this demand. In
spite of distance learning, with some learning sites such as Google Classroom, Zoom…, students
still can keep up with the lesson instead of missing it. For instance, in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many schools have applied computers to teaching which allows the lesson to be timely
completed. Nevertheless, compared to its convenience, some worry that the computer provides
students with temptations like playing games, watching videos, and chatting which may distract
them. The distraction of games and online sites have a serious influence on student’s learning
results, put a massive burden on parents’ budgets and the future of the students.
In conclusion, the drawbacks of using computers in education can be countered through the over-
usage and bad temptations of students but it still brings many benefits to learning and teaching.
A suggestion would be that the parent should educate their child to use the computer in a helpful
way.
