 STORY
CUBES
Roll the cubes to tell a story from
the pictures. How creative can you
get?

 Teacher directions
1. Print cubes on thick cardstock.
2. Cut out each cube, along the outside lines.
3. Fold on each line, tucking the tabs into the cube. Tape or glue
the tabs on the inside.

*Optional*
§ Students create their own cube, using the blank template.
§ Students can write their story down on paper.

Story cubes
Materials:
§ story cubes

DIRECTIONS:
1. Take a few cubes and give them a shake.
2. Roll the cubes.
3. Staring with “Once upon a time…” select the picture that catches
your eye first.
4. Tell a story that links together all nine images.
5. There’s no wrong answer – just have fun!

SPIN A
STORY
Take turns spinning the wheel to
create a collaborative story.
Where will it take you?

 Teacher directions
1. Print spinner on thick cardstock.
2. Cut around the outside of the spinner.
3. Using a brad and a paperclip, create a spinner

*Optional*
§ Students create their own spinner, using the blank template.
§ Students can write their story down on paper.

Story cubes
Materials:
§ spinner

DIRECTIONS:
1. Sitting in a circle, one person starts the story.
2. After 2-3 sentences, they pass to the next person.
3. That person spins the spinner and adds to the story.
4. Continue passing the spinner and adding to the story until it comes
to a good ending, or it gets too silly to go on!
