INTRODUCTION
Vargas Llosa, raised in a middle-class family, spent his childhood in Bolivia and then in Piura, Peru.
He studied Literature and Law at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, where his
passion for literature awakened. In 1959 he published his first story, "Los Jefes", and won the
Leopoldo Arias Arguello Prize.
CONSECRATION AS A WRITER
The 1960s established him as one of the most important authors in Latin America. In 1962, he
published his first nobel, called "La Ciudad y los perros," a masterpiece that explores violence,
friendship, and identity formation in a militarized context. In addition, his work "Conversación en la
Catedral", published in 1969, consolidated his international fame, and in 1994 he added humor
and satire to his repertoire with his work "Pantaleón y las visitadoras".
Vargas Llosa has received numerous awards and recognitions, in 1989 he received the Prince of
Asturias Prize for the Nobel for his work "El hablador". However, his definitive consecration came in
2010 with the Nobel Prize for Literature, positioning him as one of the great writers of his time.
In conclusion, Mario Vargas Llosa has left an indelible mark on the world of letters. His work,
translated into more than 50 languages, has been read and admired by millions of people around
