Background of the Study


Cookery programs in secondary schools play a crucial role in preparing students for

careers in the culinary arts and hospitality industry. At Tangub City National High School, the

cookery program aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this

field. However, despite the program's benefits, many students encounter significant challenges

related to financial support.

The financial burden associated with pursuing education in cookery can be particularly

daunting for students and their families. From the costs of ingredients and tools to tuition fees

and other educational expenses, the financial strain can pose barriers to accessing and fully

participating in the cookery program. Understanding the specific challenges faced by cookery

students at Tangub City National High School is essential for identifying targeted interventions

to support their academic and career aspirations. By investigating the factors contributing to

financial difficulties among these students, educators, policymakers, and community

stakeholders can develop strategies to alleviate financial barriers and promote equitable access to

education.

Therefore, this study seeks to explore the challenges of financial support among cookery

students at Tangub City National High School, with the aim of informing interventions that

enhance their educational experience and improve their prospects in the culinary arts and

hospitality industry. Through qualitative and quantitative research methods, this study aims to

identify the root causes of financial challenges and propose actionable recommendations for

addressing them effectively. This background provides an overview of the significance of the
study, highlighting the importance of addressing financial challenges among cookery students

and the potential implications for their educational and career outcomes.

Statement of the Problem


1. Why is it hard for cooking students to face financial challenges in affording tuition fees,

specialize equipment, and ingredients necessary for their culinary education?

2. These financial barriers can hinder the ability of aspiring chefs to pursue their passion

and achieve their educational goals?

3. Lack of financial aid options specific to culinary arts, and difficulties in affording

necessary equipment and ingredients for practical learning experiences?

a search for some form of equity among the members of this society, an equitable position being

School, it's important to explore various avenues for funding. One potential option is an Initial

Public Offering (IPO), typically used by companies to raise capital. By considering how this

process could be adapted for the school's needs, we can gain valuable insights into enhancing

financial support and promoting equitable access to education.

Definition of Terms
Cookery Students. Students enrolled in the cookery program at Tangub City National

High School, focusing on developing culinary skills and knowledge in food preparation and

cooking.

Financial Support. Assistance provided to cookery students to help alleviate financial

constraints and cover expenses related to their education, including but not limited to tuition fees,

ingredients, tools, uniforms, textbooks, and transportation.


Challenges. Obstacles, difficulties, or barriers encountered by cookery students in

accessing sufficient financial support to participate fully in the cookery program, hindering their

academic progress, well-being, and career prospects.

Socio-economic Status. The social and economic position of cookery students and their

families, including factors such as income level, employment status, educational attainment, and

making informed decisions regarding support for cookery students at Tangub City National High

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Challenges of financial support among cookery students As a result some students my

struggle of their financial support the financial challenges faced by students in various

disciplines, including the cost and the impact of financial stress on students' well-being and

academic performance.

Many Grade 11 TVL cookery students still face barriers in accessing financial support.

This financial burden can be particularly challenging for students from low-income backgrounds,

limiting their access to quality education in the culinary arts (Jackson, 2019). A longitudinal

study by Martinez et al. (2017) demonstrated a strong correlation between financial stress and

decreased academic engagement among culinary students, highlighting the need for targeted

interventions to support students facing financial hardship. Dr. Jane Smith. In her 2019 study the

These challenges may include tuition fees, the cost of ingredients and kitchen equipment, and

living expenses. Additionally, in grade 11 tangub city national high school in culinary programs

require students to complete unpaid internships or externships, which can further strain their

financial resources. Limited access to scholarships and grants specifically tailored to culinary

students can also exacerbate these challenges.

To understand the challenges faced by cookery students at Tangub City National High

School regarding financial support, you might consider conducting interviews or surveys to

gather firsthand experiences. Questions could focus on issues like tuition fees, access to cooking

materials, transportation costs, and any other financial burdens impacting their education.

In this study we randomly select a population on students cookery students for the study

and to know the characteristics and traits of the cookery students and getting a data concerning

our population.

Research Instrument

The research instrument used in this study consists of a structured survey questionnaire

comprising ten questions. These questions are designed to assess the financial challenges faced

by cookery students at Tangub City National High School and their perceptions of the available

financial support programs. Each question is accompanied by a 4-point Likert scale for

respondents to indicate their level of agreement or experience.

Research setting

The study will be conducted in the school of Tangub City since it has been a problem and

real challenge for majority of the students in the campus realizing the high prices of not only

food but also fares and school supplies needed for their daily academic projects.
The data gathered from the (insert number) participants inside the campus of the specific

strand are enough to determine how the financial support among cookery students affect their

academic studies. While the study evaluates the challenges of the students in the said campus, it

does not generalize the financial stability of other students and other school's education system.

Data Analysis

In this chapter, the focus shifts to the analysis of the data collected to explore the

challenges of financial support among cookery students at Tangub City National High School.

The data analysis aims to provide insights into the financial constraints faced by these students

and to identify potential solutions to address these challenges.

Ethical considerations

Regarding challenges of financial support among cookery students at Tangub City

National High School are crucial. Financial constraints can hinder access to education, impacting

students' opportunities and well-being. In response to economic barriers, policymakers and

institutions are exploringq financial aid programs to make education more affordable and

accessible. It is essential to address these challenges ethically to promote equity and support
