Although the Bible never explicitly says that the tribulation period is 7 years that time is deduced from a
dispensational view of certain passages beginning with…

Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of
the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood,
and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause
the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate,
even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

to get the overall 7-year period and then …

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,
stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor
ever shall be.

that clearly teaches that the great tribulation is the second half of the apparent 7-year tribulation mentioned
by Daniel.

It should be noted however that…

 The Bible never uses the term “tribulation” to speak of the first half of the 7-year covenant spoken of by
Daniel.
 The Bible does not clearly imply that the first half of the 7-year covenant is a time of great suffering or
punishment of any sort.
 Even if we accept that Christians will be rescued from the tribulation (which depends on our view of many
things that are not clear in scripture) the Bible certainly does not state or imply that this rescue must take
place before the 7-year covenant of Daniel. (Although it would seem to fit better that the church be
removed before the final 7-year period if we view the period between the … 62… as the church-age)

