Science is a transformed human being with following competencies:
PSO2 Discuss the range of services offered by libraries and other information service
providers.
PSO3 Recognize and analyze information needs and effectively and efficiently locate,
retrieve, evaluate, and disseminate information.
Percentage as well as absolute grading system will be followed. In every course, theory
or practical, a candidate will be awarded a letter grade based on one’s combined
performance of all the components, e.g., Practical, Assignments, Viva-voce etc. These
grades will be described by letters indicating a qualitative assessment of the candidate’s
performance through a number equivalent called “Grade Point” (GP) as given below. A
course is completed successfully, or a credit is earned for a course when letter grade C
or better is obtained in the course.
Grades will be awarded for every subject, theory and practical separately. This will be
done as described below.
The absolute grading system of the type explained below will be adopted for theory
and practical subjects
A student obtaining Grade F shall be considered failed and will be required to reappear
in the examination.
For non-credit courses ‘Satisfactory’ or “Unsatisfactory’ shall be indicated instead of the
letter grade and this will not be counted for the computation of SGPA/CGPA.
1.4 Computation of SGPA and CGPA
The following procedure has been considered for calculation of Semester Grade
Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):
i. The SGPA is the ratio of sum of the product of the number of credits with the
grade points scored by a student in all the courses taken by a student and the
sum of the number of credits of all the courses undergone by a student, i.e.
SGPA (Si) = ∑ (Ci×Gi) / ∑Ci
Where Ci is the number of credits of the ith course and Gi is the grade point
scored by the student in the ith course.
ii. The CGPA is also calculated in the same manner taking into account all the
courses undergone by a student over all the semesters of a programme, i.e.
CGPA = ∑(Ci × Si) / ∑ Ci
where Si is the SGPA of the ith semester and Ci is the total number of credits in that semester.
iii. The SGPA and CGPA shall be rounded off to 2 decimal points and reported in the
transcripts.
