Clinical Information on Request Form: Hemorrhoids.

Gross Examination: Specimen received in formalin consists of an unoriented gray


brown skin lined soft tissue fragment, measuring 0.5x0.5cm. Bisected and entirely
submitted in one cassette.

Microscopic Examination: Sections reveal biopsy fragments lined by benign


keratinized stratified squamous epithelium. The sub epithelial tissue containing dilated
thin walled blood vessels and may represent hemorrhoids. A focal mild inflammatory
infiltrate is seen and comprising of neutrophils, lymphocytes and few plasma cells. No
evidence of granuloma, dysplasia and malignancy identified.

DIAGNOSIS:
HEMORRHOIDS:
-CONSISTENT WITH HEMORRHOIDS.
-NEGATIVE FOR GRANULOMATOUS INFLAMMATION.
-NEGATIVE FOR DYSPLASIA AND MALIGNANCY.
