Previous Year Papers

Introduction

Judicial Service Civil Judge (Junior Division) is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service
Commission.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must have completed a Bachelor of Laws from the recognized University in
india
Candidate must be an Advocate enrolled under the provisions of the Advocate Act 1961, a
Barrister of England or Northern Ireland, or a Member Faculty of Advocates in Scotland
and are entitled to practice in the Court.
Candidate must possess a thorough Knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari Script.
Candidate must be a Citizen of India.
A candidate for direct recruitment to the service must have attained the age of 22 years
and must not have attained the age of more than 35 years.
Age relaxation is provided to following categories:
In case, the candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, OBC, Skilled
players of UP, the relaxation in age is given up to 5 years.
A 5-year age relaxation is also given to candidates who have served in the army for
at least 5 years.
The aforementioned relaxation in age is applicable to Ex-
serviceman/Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned
Officers/Commissioned Officers of the U.P.
For Physically Handicapped candidates, 15 years of age relaxation is given.
There will be no age relaxation for Dependents of Freedom Fighters.
The Government employees are also eligible to apply but no relaxation is given to
them.

Scheme and Syllabus

The syllabus is divided into the following three stages:

Preliminary Examination (Objective and Multiple-Choice Type)


Main Examination (Written Conventional Type)
Viva-voce (Personality Test)

Prelims Exam

The syllabus for the Prelims exam revolves around General Knowledge topics and Law

The duration of each question paper is 2 hours.


The maximum marks allotted to Paper I and Paper II are 150 and 300, respectively.
Negative marking for every wrong answer is 1/3rd

Interview

The interview will be of 100 marks.


The suitability of candidates for employment in the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service will be
tested with reference to his merit giving due regard to his ability character, personality
and physique.
The marks obtained in the interview will be added to the marks obtained in the written
papers and the candidate's place will depend on the aggregate of both.
The Commission reserves the right to refuse to call for an Interview any candidate who
has not obtained such marks in the Law Papers as to justify such refusal.
