Ans. Different types of teeth present in the mouth are:

(1) Flat teeth (incisors) - Used for biting and cutting the food. There are 4
incisors in each jaw. (Total 8)

(2) Pointed teeth (canines) - They are used for tearing the food. There are
two canines in each jaw. (Total 4)
(3) Broad and grooved teeth (Premolars and molars)- Molars are used
for grinding and premolars are for chewing. There are for premolars and six
molars in each jaw (Total 8 + 12)

Q3. Why is it important to chew the food properly?

Ans. It is important to chew the food properly for its proper digestion. If the
food is not chewed properly, most part of it remains undigested and passes to
the large intestine so, our body will lack nutrition which is obtained from
digested food.

Q4. Why is washing fruits and vegetables important for us?

Ans. Washing fruits and vegetables is important for us to remove germs


and make them safe for eating. Otherwise, it can make us ill and cause
