8 Value of Coarse and fine aggregates

From Table 5 Clause 5.5 of IS 10262:2019,Volume of coarse aggregate corresponding to 20 mm aggregate and
fine aggregate (Zone I) for water cement ratio of 0.50 = 0.66
In the present case water-cement ratio is 0.435.Therefore,Volume of coarse aggregate is required to be
increased to decrease the fine aggregate content. As the water cement ratio is lower by 0.05.
The proportion of volume of coarse aggregate is increased by = -0.008
(at the rate of ± 0.01 for every ± 0.05 change in water-cement ratio.)
Therefore, Corrected proportion of volume of coarse aggregate for the water-cement ratio of 0.538 = 0.652
For pumpable concrete these value should be reduced upto 10%, but considering the low cementitious in the present case & 0.509
=
based on experience this value shall be reduced by 22% Therefore volume of coarse aggregate
Based on the trial results, Voulme of coarse aggregates selected = 0.509
Volume of fine aggregates = 0.491
9 Mix calculation
Volume of Cement (m3) = 190 / 3.15 / 1000 0.060282 0.060
Volume of Fly ash (m3) = 120 / 2.24 / 1000 0.054
Volume of GGBS (m3) = 0 / 2.86 / 1000 0.000
Volume of Ultrafine (m3) = 0 / 2.86 / 1000 0.000

For target Strength of 31.6 Mpa, W/c as per Fig. 1 of IS 10262 ;2019 is 0.50
Based on actual trial data, W/C selected is 0.406
From the table 5 of IS 456 for severe exposure maximum Water Cement Ratio is 0.50
0.406 < 0.50, hence OK
6 Selection of Water Content -:
From Table 4 of IS 10262:2019 (Clause 5.3), maximum water content for 20 mm aggregate (for 25 to 50 mm slump) = 186 Kg
The required water content may be increased or decreased by about 3% for each increase or decrease of 25 mm
slump or may be established by trial.
Estimated water content for required slump of 150 mm. (12 / 100 + 186 X 186 ) = 208 Kg
The water so calculated can be reduced by use of chemical admixture confirming to IS 9103,
Water reduction may be up to 30%.
Adopted Water Reduction % on using of PCE based chemical admixture = 22.00%
So, Final Water content is = 162 Kg

4 Target Strength for mix proportioning

F'ck = Fck+1.65 S
F'ck = target average compressive strength at 28 days
Fck = Characteristics compressive strength at 28 days
S = Standard Deviation

From Table of IS 10262:2019, Standard Deviation, S = 5.00 N/MM2

Therefore, Target Strength = 45 + 1.65 X 5

53.25 MPa
5 Selection of Water Cement Ratio
For target Strength of 48.25 Mpa, W/c as per Fig. 1 of IS 10262 ;2019 is 0.35
Based on actual trial data, W/C selected is 0.290
From the table 5 of IS 456 for severe exposure maximum Water Cement Ratio is 0.45
0.29 < 0.45, hence OK

7 Calculation of Cement Content

Adopted Water Cement Ratio = 0.290
Cement Content = ( 162 / 0.29 ) = 560 Kg
Based on trial results and experinces, Cementitous material should be increase by 10 Kg. =
Therefore New Cementitious material = 560 Kg
From Table 5 of IS 456, Minimum Cement Content for RCC grade in "Severe Exposure Condition" is 320 Kg/M3.
= 560 Kg/M3 > 320 Kg/M3, Hence OK.
Based on trials for Replacement of Cement with PFA = 23.20%
Based on trials for Replacement of Cement with UltraFine = 0%

New Cementitious Adopted :- 23%

Cement Content 430

Fly Ash Content 130

8 Value of Coarse and fine aggregates

From Table 5 Clause 5.5 of IS 10262:2019,Volume of coarse aggregate corresponding to 20 mm aggregate and
fine aggregate (Zone I) for water cement ratio of 0.50 = 0.65
In the present case water-cement ratio is 0.435.Therefore,Volume of coarse aggregate is required to be
increased to decrease the fine aggregate content. As the water cement ratio is lower by 0.05.
The proportion of volume of coarse aggregate is increased by = 0.042
(at the rate of ± 0.01 for every ± 0.05 change in water-cement ratio.)
Therefore, Corrected proportion of volume of coarse aggregate for the water-cement ratio of 0.290 = 0.692
For pumpable concrete these value should be reduced upto 10%, in the present case for flowable concrete where PFA qunatity is 0.567
=
restricted upto max 15% , based on experience this value shall be reduced by 20% Therefore volume of coarse aggregate
Based on the trial results, Voulme of coarse aggregates selected = 0.567
Volume of fine aggregates = 0.433
9 Mix calculation
Volume of Cement (m3) = 430 / 3.15 / 1000 0.136609 0.137
Volume of Fly ash (m3) = 130 / 2.24 / 1000 0.058
Volume of GGBS (m3) = 0 / 2.86 / 1000 0.000
Volume of Ultrafine (m3) = 0 / 2.86 / 1000 0.000
Volume of Water (m3) = 162 / 1.00 / 1000 0.162
Volume of Admixture (m3) = 6.16 / 1.11 / 1000 0.006
Volume of All in Aggegate (m3) = 1- ( 0.137 + 0.058 + 0.000 + 0.000 + 0.162 + 0.006 ) 0.637
Volume of Coarse Aggegate 0.637 X 0.56744 0.362
Mass of 20 mm Aggregate (m3) = 0.362 X 0.60 X 2.84 X 1000 616
Mass of 10 mm Aggregate (m3) = 0.382 X 0.40 X 2.82 X 1000 408
Mass of Fine Aggregate (m3) = 0.637 X 0.43 X 2.72 X 1000 750

10 The Mix Proportions thus becomes :
