¢ & THE ARTICLES OF FAITH “To believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His Rasools, the Last Day, and to believe in the Divine Decree (Al-Qadar), both, the Good and the Evil thereof.” (Reported by Bukhari and Muslin) «7 }: Allah Belief and conviction in the existence of Allah and Tis Oneness (Tawheed), Tawheed is divided to three categories to facilitate its understanding: a) Tawheed ALRububiyah (The Unity of His Lordship): To believe that Allah Alone is the Rabb universe, He is the Creator, the Owner, the Nourisher, the Maintainer, the Sustainer, and {eeutor of all of its affairs. All creation has been created by Him and Him Alone. b) Tawheed AL-Uluhiyal (The Unity of His Worship): To believe that Allah is the only tah (God, abjeet of adoration and worship), and that all acts of worship (such as prayer, prostration, fasting, animal sacrifice, and invocations) must be directed towards Allah and Allah Alone. ‘These acts of worship, internal and external, must be done ina manner that is prescribed by Allah and that is pleasing to Him, which means total obedience of His laws and commandments This is the reason for which the Rasools were sent and the Books revealed, ©) Tayihoed AlsAsma wa As-Sitit (The Unity of His Names and Attributes): To believe inal the Tames ahd attibutes of Alah in ther absolute forms without any imperfections as described by [Mlk for Himself er by His Rasool, peace be upon him without giving them meanings other than thei obvious meanings without giving Him new names and altbutes or taking away any of them, and without making any similares of them with His creation IL Mis Angels? To believe in the existence of the angels, their names, attributes, characteristics, and duties as described in the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). They are a creation from amongst the ercations of Allah. He has created them from light and they are in total obedience to Him Alone. They are assigned many duties, from amongst them is Jibra’el, who has brought ‘down all the revelations to the various Rasools, Isrfecl, who is in-charge of blowing the trumpet that will ceause all to be desttoyed and which will resurrect the bodies on the Day of Judgment, and Miks‘ecl, who is responsible for the rain and vegetation. IIL, His Books: To belive in all the Books or Revelations sent by Allah to His various Rasools as a mercy ‘and guidance for mankind, From amongst them are the Taurat (Torah) revealed to Musa (Moses), the Injeel (Gospel) revealed to “Isa (Jesus), the Zuboor (Psalm) revealed to Datd (David) and the Qur'an revealed to Muhammad, peace be upon them all. To believe that the Qur’an is the final, complete, and y ‘unchanged revelation of Allah towards all of mankind and will stay as such until the Day of Judgment, and a that all previous revelations have been abrogated by this final revelation. ie 1V, His Resools (Messengers): To believe in all the Resools as mentioned in the Qur'an and that Alb ‘To believe that the Rasools communicated Allah’s Message had sent a Messenger to every nation. completely, properly and promptly, and that they have no divine status or attributes. They all proclaimed the same fundamental beliefs and teachings. From amongst them are Noh (Noah), Ibriheem (Abraham), ‘Musa (Moses), ‘Isa (Jesus) and the last of them and seal of the Prophets is Muhammad, peace be upon him, ‘who came as a Rasool for the whole of mankind. \V. The Last Day (the Hereafter): To believe in everything that the Qur'an or the Prophet, peace be upon him, has mentioned about the final hour. It includes all that will occur before the trumpet will be blown and afier the Resurrection, the events pertaining to the Day of Judgment in which everyone will be held accountable for hisfher deeds and will be rewarded with paradise or punished in Hell. VL. The Beli in the Divine Decree (Al-Qadar), both, the Good and the Evil thereof: To believe that Allah hed the knowledge of everything before their existence. This would, therefore, include all the affeirs of His creation in respect to obedience, disobedience, lie spans, and sustenance. That al things were recorded in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lauh Al-MaRfoodh) before He created the heavens and the earth. ‘That al things came into existence by Divine Decree and Allah Alone created them. Nothing has come tO -— existence by any other means and nothing happens, good or evil, without His pemmission, The evil, which is mentioned, refers to the evil that happens as a result of mans disobedience of Allah. These three aspects of Tawheed over lap and are inseparable. The omission of any of these aspects is called "Shir," the association of partners with Allah, which in fact is idolatry. Risilah that Allah has assigned Rasools (Prophets) to deliver His message, provide knowledge about those unseen facts, such as angels, hell and paradise about which human beings have no means to know, and to provide a model of living in accordance with His commandments. Akhirah that mankind is in test here in this life and will be held accountable for all good or bad deeds on the Day of Judgement. Then righteous people will be rewarded for their good deeds in Paradise while the bad people will be punished for their bad deeds in Hellfire. THE CENTRAL THEME that runs throughout the Qur’an is the exposition of Reality and the invitation to the Right Way based on it. It declares that Reality is the same one that was revealed by Allah Himself to Adam at the time of his appointment as vicegerent, and to all the Prophets after him. The Right Way is the same one that was taught by all the Prophets. It also points out that all theories contradictory to this Reality, invented by people about God and the rest of His creation are false, and the ways of life based on them are errone- ous and lead to disastrous consequences. THE AIM and OBJECT of the revelations is to invite mankind to the Right Way and to present clearly the Guidance which he has lost because of his immature and underdeveloped art of preserving the Divine Guidance through writing it down, prior to the advent of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). THE QUR'AN IS ONE INTEGRAL WHOLE in which every verse and sentence has an intimate bearing on other verses and sentences, all of them clarifying and amplifying one another. Its real meaning can only be grasped when we correlate every one of its statement with what has been stated elsewhere in its pages through a cross-reference, always subordinating the particular to general and incidental to intrinsic, realizing that the “Qur'an is its own best commentary."
